I went through the published list of patch notes for Patch 5 and can't find any mention of the Black Emporium. Has this feature been removed or simply pushed back to a later update? I'm really looking forward to being able to have the opportunity to change my appearance after character creation so I was just curious about what's going on.
Is the Black Emporium no longer part of Patch 5?

The Black Emporium just tested along with patch 5 not actually included in it.
Right now we can't even be sure that it gonna be free.

To be fair, the announce message did imply it had a relationship to patch 5, just by nature of it being the first thing they mention in 'Patch 5 beta applications'.

I'm not a tester, I just curious about it the same as many peoples here. So, I go back and re-read their blog post.
If they decide to released it along with patch 5 as DLC then its all good, I'm happy with that and glad to see my understanding is proven as wrong. But so far, I didn't see any sign of those yet.

...or it was brilliantly worded to be ambiquous for PR purpose. Man, ea is really providing bioware with some heavy artillery support in the PR department.

Is this sarcasm? Cuz this is terribly shortsighted PR if so. I mean I can see a QA person flailing their hands in excitement over the idea of having so many free beta testers but the blowback they're gonna get if it turns out the BE needs to be paid for can't be worth it.
If you keep really quiet you can already hear the screams of 'EAware' and 'anti-consumerism.'

You must be new here. ea has always relied on customers having very short memory. Anyway, until I see black emporium in my origin as a free download, I do not believe it is free.

Then if you aren't a tester, don't confirm or deny things as if you were one. There's enough misinformation already.

Apart from the so desired option to change the aspect of our characters (which is a thing I am also waiting since they released the game) why is there so much hype towards Black Emporium? I mean, for many players this game is a piece of cake even of nightmare. I cannot really see many players who are eager to buy artifacts in order to make it even more easy, maybe I am wrong.
EDIT - changed my post so that it doesn't seems anymore that I was speaking for everyone. ![]()

Vitriol seems to have instantly dominated this thread.
The Black Emporiums mention as part of the beta testing certainly wasn't worded ambiguously, and I've little doubt that the dozens of media sources who instantly began reporting this content as being part of the upcoming Patch 5 makes those of us who expected it to be included for free more in the right.
Whether this proves to be the case or not remains to be seen?

It states that people participating in the Patch 5 beta will have "access" to the Black Emporium, not that it is a part of Patch 5.

People do pay $5 for a hat that does nothing in other games.
Then there is that new game that released recently with about $120 of Day 1 DLC.

I would honestly prefer something other than the Black Emporium. In my mind it doesn't suit this game. Perhaps a special merchant in a keep or at Skyhold who sets up in one of the many areas in Skyhold which you can't enter, and they'll have the mirror to change your appearance like the Black Emporium, but I personally am of the opinion that it was a good thing the BE was taken out of the patch.

"dozens of media sources who instantly began reporting this content as being part of the upcoming Patch 5"
Still doesn't explain this situation, if the Emporium requires purchase.

Never was a part of patch 5 and, the blog never said it was, only that it was being beta tested with patch 5, which it was.
