Is the Black Emporium no longer part of Patch 5?

Apart from the so desired option to change the aspect of our characters (which is a thing I am also waiting since they released the game) why is there so much hype towards Black Emporium? I mean, for many players this game is a piece of cake even of nightmare. I cannot really see many players who are eager to buy artifacts in order to make it even more easy, maybe I am wrong.

EDIT - changed my post so that it doesn't seems anymore that I was speaking for everyone. :)

I, personally, absolutely love Xenon the Antiquarian in DA2 and hope he has some things to say about the Breach. And he's funny. xD I know he's supposed to be a joke character, but Xenon's story is really interesting. I want to see what he's up to. I also kinda want him to use the haywire magic floating around to "fix" himself lol. But I doubt that'll happen. :P Also, the Emporium had interesting codex entries for different "artifacts" around, and I want MOAR.

I expect a media savvy company with a dodgy history of botched commentary that continues marketing their products to at least clarify ongoing press releases to prevent such disinformation from growing out of proportion.

Everyone that is rising to correct those among us who took the bait, please explain why this happened!

I would honestly prefer something other than the Black Emporium.  In my mind it doesn't suit this game.  Perhaps a special merchant in a keep or at Skyhold who sets up in one of the many areas in Skyhold which you can't enter, and they'll have the mirror to change your appearance like the Black Emporium, but I personally am of the opinion that it was a good thing the BE was taken out of the patch.

A Mirror of Transformation could easily be put in the Inquisitors bedroom as well as a personal storage chest, make that room useful, and buyable items get sold by either a new merchant or from Seggritt/Bonny Simms.

We don't need the skeleton guy and his shop.

Never was a part of patch 5 and, the blog never said it was, only that it was being beta tested with patch 5, which it was.

The article's headline says "Introducing the DAI Patch 5 Beta Program, Featuring the Black Emporium." It also says: "As part of the beta, participants will have access to the Black Emporium." Beta of what though? Beta of the patch? If you look at the title it certainly implies such. Or beta of the Emporium?

Plus people (meaning me) asked  when the news was first released whether the Emporium would be included in the patch and that was ignored. It's ambiguous leaning towards misleading.

It states that people participating in the Patch 5 beta will have "access" to the Black Emporium, not that it is a part of Patch 5.

The ambiguity is introduced in the phrase "As part of the beta, participants will have access to..." Depends on what "beta" means there. If it's shorthand for "the beta version of the patch" then the BE is in the patch. If it means "the beta testing participant group," then it doesn't have to be. I've see "beta" used both ways; I personally say "I'm using the W10 beta," but if someone says "I'm in the W10 beta" I wouldn't call him necessarily wrong (except that I don't think MS is calling the tech preview a "beta" in the first place). Note that the headline, read literally, uses the second meaning.

I'd call it PR-speak if I could see any rational objective in deliberately introducing the ambiguity there. The beta program was oversubscribed as it was, apparently.

Nice job, Fredward! That alone places the source of miscommunication directly where it rightly belongs. Too bad that the debate can't focus on this one point?

Agree that we don't need the BE in this game.  I honestly don't think it fits, but a special merchant would be nice.  Wasn't it stated in a patch that they were going to bring in the ability to dye the clothing (since there's such a limited selection)?

Oh, and don't get me started on the lack of a personal storage chest again!  We didn't have one originally for Origins, had one for DA2 and now they've taken it away again!

A storage chest is listed on the Patch 5 notes (I can finally stop carry around the Mercy Crest amulet yay!) I'd just prefer it to be in the bedroom rather than the Undercroft, it makes sense from a RP pov and that room being so useless really bugs me.

I think it's for easy access for crafting.

All I can say is that the Emporium fits just fine and, you'll like it once it's released.

The storage chest is where it is, you have more reason to go to the Undercroft than your quarters and, down there is supposed to be where the special gear for the party is kept and made. makes sense.

Where in Skyhold is the storage chest anyways?

I wanted to use that storage chest to stash shiny but totally useless baubles. That doesn't make sense for the Undercroft. My Inquisitor wants to stare at his shinies in his room, not where other people can ogle them. Can't see why a chest can't be in both places though.

But crafting materials don't count towards your inventory total, well one does but not the other 39 so it can't be for that. Unless they're changing how inventory works.

"Patch 5 will be the biggest patch we’ve released to date, and it addresses a number of key concerns for our community." they said.

...I take it that 'number of key concerns' are storage chest and the font size. Sure thing, '2' definitely a number, not sure about the 'key concerns' part, though.

No auto-attack button. No tints for crafting. No face-codes. Raw mouse-look? Hopefully it's better than it sounds. Does not look like 'the biggest patch' to me, really.

The Mirror mostly, I think, preferably along with the face-codes.

Anyone that expects anything to be free in this day and age is living on a fantasy world more unreal than Thedas.

Just checked the PS4. Patch is live and there are tints for crafting, not just crafted items either... you can tint game generated items. eg. Cole's Hat

This is a very cool customization feature. I am totally going to play fashion diva later today! :-)

probably was cut in half due to time, and likely there is work on the bigger features which they didn't get right for Patch 5.

Thats my speculation at least. As for the black emporium...well if it's not a part of the patch as DarkArmarath implied...well hopefully it's free at least.

The Black Emporium was tested with patch 5. It's not part of patch 5

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

.@JarthallT Black Emporium is separate from Patch 5. We beta tested them together, however as BE depends on added Patch 5 functionality.

Im guessing to store upgrades which you want to save for later, which do count towards inventory.  I think it's better off in your own room since its only directly across from the Undercroft, and it actually gives you a reason to visit your room which looks gorgeous but functionally useless.

I mean, if you craft gear you don't want to use immediately you can store it right away. Idk, I usually get annoyed about my full inventory when crafting more than anything else in Skyhold.

People on PS4 had downloaded it, and we have the PC specifically mentioned, must be coming soon on Origin. I can't see it either (PC).

I don't mind waiting more. But now I'm confused, is Black emporium paid DLC or not after all?
