When I was on Facebook, I think I had about 30 friends, or so. I wasn't really interested in getting updates from people unless I knew them reasonably well, or I had been good friends with them in the past, and they now lived in other provinces/countries.
I haven't been on Facebook in over five years, though.

I guess I've always just considered forums to be a different category than facebook or twitter or myspace. lol Do people still use myspace? But anyways, yeah if there's human interaction then it's social obviously.

None, really. I didn't even know what tumblr was, until a few months ago. I never used Myspace. I was only on Facebook for a couple of years before they blanked my profile (which was when I left.) I follow a handful of comedians on Twitter, but I never really read any tweets, and I only do it myself when I can think of something sort of funny to say, which is maybe once every couple of days.

I am honestly curious about the possible reasons social media could be of any benefit to anyone (who isn't selling crap). I am done with it myself, and I barely had my toe in the pool.

I personally despise false friendships, the type in which people will pretend to be friends, but at its heart the relationship is MAYBE an acquaintance. I am the type to have very few GOOD friends rather than a thousand phony ones.

The point is to be social. I use Facebook & BSN to keep up with family & friends as a lot of them do not live in the same town or even the same country as me. However, I'm not one to just have hundreds of people on there for the sake of racking up numbers - on Facebook they are people who I know closely or at least have had conversations with.

What's the issue? You can be friends with people on Facebook who you socialise with in real life.

For the BSNers that have met me irl, they know I'm exactly the same as I am on the internet tbh. All 7 of them told me they were surprised at how I'm not different at all.
