The Emerald Graves is by far my favorite area to explore. I love it because:

1. it is gorgeous

2. it is an ancient elven burial ground - "each tree found in the Graves is a reminder of a life lost during the Exalted March against the Dales..."

3. there are adorable nugs that scamper around - or if you hate nugs you can hunt them/run them over with your mount

4. The Greater Mistral lives there - it is one of the most beautiful of drakes, I think.

Say what you love about the emerald graves and post photos, screenshots, etc!

Interesting, an area appreciation thread, how novel.

one of my favourite things would be the tiny faerie door. On phone so can't post screens atm.

Yes!! :)

There are so many incredible areas of exploration. Truly they were the game's stronger qualities! I love the faerie door in the emerald graves! I'm on a wonky laptop at the moment so it isn't letting me post photos either. We need folks to post eye candy all up in here. :D

Really? There are about 25 quests there, not counting all those requisitions etc.

Well, the Emerald Graves sure is lovely for an evil deathmaze of evilness filled with giants and bears and giant bears.

But the brown nugs look more delicious than the pink ones. And I liked the quest 'Last Wishes'. 'Twas so pointless that my inky slaughtered a frigging dragon and tons of giants just to scatter some dusty remains, which made it all the more hilarious. At least Cole approved. And Sera got the ashes in her mouth.

That was hilarious when Sera started coughing after I scattered the ashes... I liked the haunted house mission in the Emerald Graves. One of the best little side quest dungeons in the game.

The point of this game is to make Cole happy. :P (Aside from the Grey Warden issue -- my entire away team disapproved of me not exiling them. Sorry, little buddy.)

The Chateau was definitely the best (non-companion) side quest in the game, and the lush forest was such a relief coming from the bleedin' desert, of which I was sick and tired to say the very least. It was also good to help Fairbanks' people and actually see them move into a slightly better "home" -- I like it when my actions have actual results in a zone. On the downside, the writers could have done a lot better with the whole Freemen faction, both here and in the Exalted Plains.

Overall, the Emerald Graves might be my third favourite zone.

"It has been said that trees are imperfect men, and seem to bemoan their imprisonment rooted in the ground. But they never seem so to me. I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do." - John Muir

My elf hunter was very embarrassed that she lost her way at least a dozen times in that green hell. Probably stepped in nug droppings, too.

This is my favorite location. And I always take Cole and Cassandra because they love it to.

Elf-specific armour has no shoes. Used the Dalish Scout armour myself, made with snowfleur skin so my mage could wear it.

My all time favorite would be the Arbor Wilds, definitely.

But in terms of explorable and always available areas, then yes, a thousand times yes to the Emerald Graves.

The others being, The Lost Temple of Dirthamen and the Cradle of Suledin.

And after that comes Emprise du Lion, Crestwood and Exalted Plains.

That sure was a pretty dragon.

Spoiler

I agree, though, I love the Emerald Graves. And the Arbor Wilds. I also like the Exalted Plains...couldn't tell you why. Maybe it's all the Snoufleur and Halla running about.

I love this dragon fight. It's hard but not too, too hard. I love pausing the fight every few seconds to get awesome screens.
