Bioware did say they regretted calling it Dragon Age 2. I think Mike said the name they would have went with was Exodus. It would have been:

Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Exodus

Dragon Age: Inquisition

If you want a source to this then go check his twitter page. He said it there when answering a fan question sometime last year.

Please, PLEASE, no. I truly believe anyone who played Origins at launch and then got DA2 will agree with me in saying that DA2 was a 2/10 compared to Origins. Origins is still the best game in this franchise and i would pay any amount to have that game retextured and released without any other changes.

Dragon Age 2 was a terrible, terrible version of this franchise, something i do not want to ever experience again, or have them waste resources on whenever they haven't topped or even matched Origins thus far.

I'm constantly saddened by the amount of hate DA2 gets. Replaying it recently I really loved it (despite its flaws) and I thought it was a great game. Origins was good and I did enjoy it but i couldn't honestly say it was that much better a game.

I started this franchise from Origins onward, and I would agree to no such thing. In fact, I've actually played DA2 more times than Origins, mainly because I find the characters more fun, and many of its sequences are less of a chore to me (I dislike the fade and am completely indifferent to the Deep Roads). Its DLC's and expansion are not all that polished either, especially the horrible Golems of Agmawhatever. I'll take MoTA and Legacy over those any day.

In any case, it would do BioWare well to never put their resources toward remaking any of their games ever, including Origins.

DA2 is perfect the way it is. It wasn't DAO2 and that's how it should be.

I'm just quoting you to say I like the Malik avatar. I should probably finally get an avatar myself, a Tales one. Maybe a Ludger one?

Wouldn't work.

Actually the problem wasn't about DA 2 as a game.

DA:O base game has one of the best and satifyings endings i've seen in a long long time : Warden dies in most heroic sense, Anora/Alistair or both rules, Loghain/Alistair is left to rebuild Ferelden.

And they all showed respect to the Warden who sacrificed him or her self for the good of others. Taught next generations to follow his/her example. Gave his/her name to Royal protector squadron etc.

Fin.

Whatever came next, call it Awakenings, DA2, DA:I feels like "stoppage time". And that's not because they're awful, they're actually good games but they just feel like the idea of Godfather part 4.

That's the main reason i wished they moved the timeline to before Warden or way after the Warden like 50-100 years.

DA2 was terrible. You were forced to play a human whether you wanted to be a human or not

Maybe so, but plans change.  I don't see what Hawke did in DA2 that would justify the "most important person in Thedas," title, and the inconsistencies between the Cassandra/Varric subplot from DA2 and the overall Inquisition plot lead me to believe that Hawke was indeed meant to be a the Dragon Age Shepard... of course, the game didn't do so well and they had to throw all of that out the window, but the theory makes sense if you look closely at DA2's "missing heroes" plot and compare it to... uh...

...I'll just cover this up since this isn't the DA:I forum and it's not supposed to have spoilers...

Spoiler

It seems pretty clear to me that they had something big in mind, because being "Champion" of Kirkwall is in no way, shape, or form akin to the "most important person in Thedas."  Unless the aftermath of their involvement in the Legacy DLC are what we are supposed to be focusing on, but that would be bizarre marketing to put it lightly...

Anyway, I don't see any reason to give DA2 a remake.  It wasn't that good a game to begin with, so this would be, IMO, a waste of resources.  Plus, I think that the game should stand as is for all of time so that Bioware remembers this mistake.  Good games deserve to get remastered, bad/mediocre ones should be left alone for future generations of developers to learn from...

Also, considering how much hate I've seen for Hawke (hate that I do not share btw...), would a remake even sell?  That's the really important question here...

The missing Heroes storyline was teased in the DA2 guide book. It also teased morrigan and an inquisition being at the heart of the next dragon age title, so some of it was true.

Honestly, I can see a updated version of DA:O and A remastered version of DA:2 with Improvements, but not any time in the near future. They might not even do a DA2 one, considering that there probably wouldn't be a large enough market for it.

We'll see Bethesda do a remake of Daggerfall

before BioWare remake DA2.

And no, neither will happen.

I agree.  Besides on a personal level I rather see new stories instead of a rehash of old ones that have baggage attached.

If they went back and made it it would be too big a difference between Origins, Inquisition and whatever comes next. It'd be like if they redid ME1, it would have the best and most polished combat, AI, leveling, etc... and then you'd go into 2 and 3 which would be backwards now in terms of quality. 2 would be the worst and 3 would be in the middle. It would be all out of wack.

I really wish this happened. In fact, one of the biggest reasons I'd like any sort of remake/imagining of DA2 is so it can be called Exodus in all material and we can leave 'DA2' behind. Origins, Exodus, Inquisition all sound like a fluid sequence of titles..

Anyway, I don't expect anything new for DA2 any time soon. Or this decade. Maybe the next, in a whole new world of gaming that may want collections of Bioware/Dragon Age games together, remastered (think Master Chief Collection, a little).

I think we can all agree that Dragon Age II did not deserve to be called Dragon Age II. Instant comparisons were drawn between it and the vastly superior Dragon Age: Origins. Hence the terrible user reviews for it on Metacritic.

Metacritic user ratings are the ramblings of butthurt lunatics. Not just DA2, but game after game you'll find poster after poster giving whatever game 0-out-of-10 and rambling justifications over relatively trivial issues. DA2 has endless people giving it 0, 1, 2, or 3 out of 10. That's just butthurt crybabies crying butthuredly. The critic reviews were more fair. DAO got 85% ish, DA2 got 80% ish.

If you want high quality user reviews, your place should be GameFAQs.

Mac Version? 9/10

PC Version? Three under 5/10, six at 6/10, Twelve at 7 and 8 / 10, and a couple of 9/10s.

PS3 Version? Mostly 7 and 8/10, a couple of 5s and a couple of 9 and 10s.

Xbox 360 Version? Mainly 7, 8 and 9 / 10. A couple of lower ones.

Metacritic is excellent for a summary of professional reviews, but for the user reviews it is a cesspit.
