I see a lot of hate/negativity to some companions here, which of course vary per person. But someone usually will express that they dislike one or more of their companions who don't see eye to eye with them (I wish I could kill Viv, I hate Sera, Cass is a righteous b**th, etc).

Personally, I have grown to like (or at least respect) pretty much every companion I ever had across the entire DA series (with the exception of DA2 Anders - more on that later). Some took some time to get to appreciate - like Sten and Zevran from DAO (Sten was just difficult in the beginning and Zevran... I just didn't trust initially for obvious reasons), Nathaniel from DA:A (because he was Howe's son and had a vendetta against you at the start) and Velanna was a bit rough at the start. But I grew to like them all after taking the time to get to know them. Heck, I even ended up gaining some respect for friggin' Loghain and let him redeem himself by  letting him sacrifice himself. I;m still not sure on Sera yet but I think I'll like her at the end of it all as Bioware seems to write all their companion characters as being likeable if you try enough.

The only person that really peeved me off was Anders in DA2 when he blew up the Chantry, mostly because i was working so hard to keep the peace and I felt betrayed by him (even though Justice had a big part in it). But up until that time I sympathized with him.

I tend to have a centrist/neutral point of view which probably helps in being able to find the good in everyone.

I'm wondering how many other people liked (or almost liked) all their companions in the DA series.

Had issues with most of them at certain times, but as long as you agree with them on the little things (which don't matter) you can disagree with them on the big issues and still have them stand by you.

So yeah, I liked them all for the most part.

Every companion?

If I count Loghain from Origins, no I don't like every companion. If I don't, then the answer is yes.

I like every companion in Awakening.

I don't like Fenris and Carver much from Dragon Age II, but I like everyone else.

I don't like Sera and Vivienne from Inquisition, but like everyone else.

It's not necessarily a question of most liked/disliked as those characters are written well enough to evoke an emotional response either positive or negative, which makes for a more immersive experience.

I tend to develop a defensiveness about any characters that are my "team" in any RPG. There is a world of people out there, but these are my companions for good or bad and they are going to have quirks and things I like or don't like, and when it comes to combat some are going to see more use than others as well. In the end though, they are my companions and that's what matters.

Maybe not "like" and consider them a buddy but at least some measure of respect. I can't say I liked Loghain but I gained some measure of respect for him. I can say that I don't hate any of my companions or even really dislike.

Other than DA2's Anders, I can at least tolerate all of the companions.

I liked almost all of the DA:O companions, though it took a long time to trust Zevran. I didn't like Loghain, but I respected him.

I was ambivalent towards Anders for DA:A, but I liked the others.

In DA2, I liked Varric, felt like a big brother to Merrill, disliked Fenris and Carver, really disliked Anders and felt ambivalent toward the rest.

In DAI, I like almost everyone, though Varric seems comparatively bland. With Vivienne, I feel pretty much the same as I did with Loghain, but I haven't spent enough time with her to get to know her in depth.

I personally like (or lets say respected) most companions (does Vengeance/Corrupted Justice count? he would be an exception) in every bioware game I played. In DA I liked everybody but I loved to disagree with Vivienne (and I wanted to throw a knife at Sebastian at the end of DA2). Other than that there is nobody I really hate .

As characters, yes I like all our followers.

As people, no I don't like all our followers.

Actually, I just thought of someone I didn't care for much - Shale. She is the only one where I didn't have much positive feelings towards. But I didn't dislike her either.

I lump Vengeance in with DA2 Anders. Basically DA2 Anders = DAA Anders + Vengeance. I'm sure i would have liked DA2 Anders if he wasn't corrupted by Vengeance.

I still don't like Sten and I doubt that that'll ever change.  I like everyone in Inquisition, even if some of them have traits that I find somewhat infuriating.  I don't actively dislike anyone from DA2, though there are some that I don't care strongly about.

I like everyone except Vivienne

I'm not sure playing the game 50x would make me like her

In the other games

I didn't particularly care for Sebastian but I didn't think he was a bad person like I do Vivienne

Origins I liked everyone

Edit: oh yeah Anders in DA2 is psychotic

I have few I never grew to like even though every single playthrough I try to give them another chance.. and I repeatedly fail to like them.

DA:O : Leliana (applies to her in DA:I too) I just..do not click with her personality at all. I do not kill her or anything, but I just can't make myself to feel any affection towards her.

DA:2 : Anders. I loved him in Awakening, but loathed in DA:2.There is also Tallis, who is annoying me to no end.

DA:I : Iron Bull. I just cannot help it- I try and try, but he does absolutely nothing for me, but to impact my game negatively. If I play the game through for seventh time I will not recruit him. He annoys me more than I get out of him. I mean .. Sera annoys me sometimes, but I still consider her my friend, because she displays vulnerability that is to me very likeable. Towards Bull I feel no affection or liking at all.

I know my response may not be popular as each of them have their fans, but it is just the way it is to me. The rest of the companions I felt genuine affection towards.

Personally, I've like every companion I've fought alongside (I could never justify keeping Loghain alive). True, they've all had flaws, and they've all done something to grate on my nerves, but in my opinion, it makes them more like real people

Nope.   I also don't think you are necessarily suppose to like all of them.    I see the array of companions as options for different player compatibilities.    I play through the series quite frequently and I always end up gravitating to the same companions more often than not.     Also some of how I perceive some companions changes as I learn more.   Sten, for instance, I found tolerable as a stoic warrior from a barbaric war-like culture when I played DA:O.    After DA2 revealed more details about the horrors of Qun society, I dislike Sten much more now on many a DA:O run.

Generally though, I typically don't attempt to like everyone when their viewpoints run highly contrary to my characters views (which may or may not reflect my own depending on the character)

Maybe not "like" but I do appreciate every companion for their roles in the stories. Well, except Sebastian.

And yes I really like Anders. I wish I could give him a high five when he blew up the chantry.

There have been companions which I didn't like at all at first that I now like, but there have been certain companions that I just cannot grow to like no matter what, even though I'll use them based on what fits each of my characters. For example, I wanted my dalish warden to like Velanna, but even though I tried to roleplay it, I just couldn't grow to like her, mostly because her voice makes me tense.

I didn't like Anders and Fenris very much.

Other than that, I'd say I appreciate pretty much all of them as good characters. Some I like more than others, but I've never hated anyone. My spectrum is basically 'Adore them' to 'Meh.' Leliana is my absolute favourite character in the series, while Sebastian is kinda meh.

I don't dislike anyone, though sometimes I will ****** them off for fun.  Iron Bull however I find to be fairly boring, and I find myself running past him without talking to him very often both in Skyhold and Haven.  Drinking with the Chargers was fun, dont get me wrong, but something about his character just seems dull to me.  Sorry to IB fans, I know he is much loved by some.

I like everyone except Iron Bull. I gave him 3 chances (3 playthroughs) but now I'm not even recruiting him anymore.

Before DA:I came out I thought he'll be funny and likable. Nope. He's boring and most things he usually says are cringe-worthy (That's my opinion of course).

The only companion I truly dislike is Fenris.

I know he has his ulterior reasons to insult Bethany immediately after meeting him, but that's the reason I tell him "no thanks" every time.

This will ensure me the rage of lot of (less ignorant than myself) people, but I also think his looks are a little too "off". He looks like the protagonist of some anime. I don't see him as an elf, but a cartoony teenage human. DA2 had a very eccentric art style (which I generally liked), but even there he was slightly over the top.

Oh yeah, Sebastian. I never even bothered with him except the mandatory stuff. He's an idiot, and not in the likeable way like Sera. Sebastian is the only character is dislike in the way that I don't appreciate him. Fenris strikes out on a personal level, Anders does horrible things behind your back, but they are still engaging people in the games. Sebastian is not.

There weren't any that I really disliked, but some were left behind more often than others, sure. Blackwall? Annoys me especially with his ridiculous soft-lock romance. Solas can get on your nerves. I liked Cole, but liked Varric and Sera better, so he got bumped from the rogue slot. Bull was entertaining as well, but I was a melee fighter and was already using Cassandra as a tank, so he was bumped too.

Overall Bioware really puts a lot of thought into their characters and crafting backstories for them. They all have their shining moments but some will always appeal more to certain audiences than others.

No. I don't even romance anyone in inquisition unless I was into dudes, which I am not. Maybe there will be other options in the expansion or dlc.
