Velanna was the toughest for me as well, easy to forget about her. But I think I'm... fond? of all the DA companions. Just some mroe than others. Velanna being at the bottom of the list. XD Still recruit her, though.

Yeah Anders is about my only exception. Jacob from Mass Effect. Basically both are down to a loyalty thing. Anders lies to you and destroys peace NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you romance him. Jacob in me2 (not Miranda not even freaking Jack) will question your orders.

NO other character goes "are you sure we should do this?" Yes I'm freaking sure Jacob! I'm your freaking captain! Also 'say hi to the AI Tali!' What an idiot. This is the first major POC in any Bioware game and he's the worst. Uggggg.

I kinda hate Morrigan cuz she had my man's baby in my canon playthrough. >.> I liked her up to that point. Not even entirely mad that Kieran exists, just that she was tagging along under false pretenses, and knew all along about the sacrifice a grey warden had to make but didn't tell me, even though I was supposedly her "sister" (she doesn't even know what that word means). But at the same time I can't hate her for it, I hate whoever wrote the story to be unfair that way.

That is  why in my canon loghain is dead and my warden is king while Alistair will be less upset, since i play a male warden i have no interest in romancing him, and Morrigan can have the super stabbing in witch hunt with no remorse without the soul of the old god and without Kieran.
It's a triple win without any compromise.

Tali's an interesting one. She never seemed to have a strong enough presence to even get actual hate lol.

That's probably a better way to put it. It's not like she's says anything that I'm against vehemently. She just doesn't really contribute anything in ME1 that a codex entry couldn't have done equally well.

I actually loved this part. It seemed obvious to me that Jacob was basically trolling Tali a little bit because of all her anti-Cerberus talk while standing in the Cerberus Normandy's conference room. After all, she basically told Shepard that if the plan was to sabotage the whole organization, she'd be ready, right in front of him. In his position, I would probably have said something to the same effect to screw with her.

Only three characters I don't like in Dragon age: Zevran, Isabella, and DA2 Anders.  I found Isabella's rivalry path satisfying though.  The only one in Inquisition I might throw in with this group is Iron Bull, who came across as a bit flat too me.

No some I just really really hate. Like I don't like sten he's so boring. Carver is seriously the worst companion ever. All he does is ****** and moan about everything you do. I want to like stab him in the eye repeatedly. Why can I not have Bethany as a mage?! I'm not a morrigan fan either. I think she would have been an interesting romance for a woman, but beyond that I don't really enjoy her character. Even less when she feels like she has more of a right to the well than an elf quizzy. What ******? You better step off. Oh wait I take back what I said about carver, seb is the worst companion ever. I can't even stand to look at him and his smug ass smile. **** that guy.

So no. I definitely hate some companions.

Carver's a real pain in the ass, but I really enjoy that despite all of that, he won't abandon you. My real problem with him is that he can only exist throughout the game at the cost of losing Bethany in the prologue, and you have to be a mage, which I find a bit bothersome because being a high profile mage in a Templar-run city just doesn't gel with me that much, so he dies 99% of the time.

I forget about Carver because I only played DA2 once as Warrior Hawke so I had Bethany, whom I liked.

I think I'm easy to please... but I actually like most of the characters in the series. And I only have a strong dislike for Vivienne and Velanna. I have a love/hate relationship with Sera. I love her when she's not being completely closeminded, but when she is being like that... I want to smack her upside the head.

There are definitely companions that I didn't like initially, but grew to like over time. Most of the Origins companions--at first I thought, "Ugh, why is Alistair so goofy and Morrigan so prickly and Leliana so ditzy" ... but by the time I finished the game, I thought they were all so great. Really appreciated their personalities & growth & how they became more complex as you spoke with them.

I hated Fenris at first... but I've sort of come around on him. If I squint, I can believe he has a sense of humor about himself, and that works. I hated Solas until I got to the big reveal at the end & after that, I found him MUCH more interesting, and my dislike has faded to neutral/curious.

Not even close... the characters that I initially disliked never grew on me.  In fact, some of them that seemed okay at first started to get on my nerves the more time I spent around them!  I guess it's a testament to the skill of the writers that they can create such lifelike characters, even if I detest a good number of them... and even better, they give us a chance to refuse to work with nearly every potential party member with each installment of the game, so it's all good.

I feel the same way, with the exception of Oghren in Awakening.  I felt like he'd lost the character progression he'd made in DA:O, and I didn't like how his alcoholism was played up for laughs in the expansion.  It may be understandable, and my Warden did help him, but I didn't like his character arc there.

He wasn't too bad in DA:O after his personal quest, and I liked taking him with me to the Urn.  Nothing like a dwarf to bring some of the mystery of the place down back down to earth.  ;)

Not all no.  Velanna, Justice/Kristoff thingie, Vivienne, Shale and Sten never grew on me.  I never disliked them but they didn't mean anything to me.  I can see where they come from I JDGAF ya know?  But everyone  else in DAO became like a family I loved them all Even Loghain though he only lived once. DA2 loved them all.  Especially my siblings.  Carver hurts me so bad everytime his va was phenomenal. DAI I loved Cassandra and Dorian and liked everyone else.

For me, it was no surprise to find that I really like every companion.

I didn't like the realistic faces, or Sera's hair, but in the end I can appreciate them for what/who they are, and even romance them if possible. And I understand and accept the reason for Sera's hair.

I enjoy all the compaions, i find they all grow on me if i take the time and make the effort to drag them along with me. My first impression dislikes were morrigan, sten, shale, oghren, velanna, carver, blackwall and solas. But all of them grew on me and i adore them all. I find a lot of the character are only revealed through comments about quests and banter, so without dragging em around, you miss a lot.

I do agree with the poster above who didnt like oghren arc in awakening, i thought his lil cutscene in vigils keep when he joins is good but then it rapidly went downhill into weird drunken rambling.

I do find it great though how my perceptions of chars have slowly changed though, like wynne, when i first played origins she was the wise granny of the group. But many playthroughs later i recruited loghain and he totally calls out for being self righteous and preachy. It was great, i was all shocked for a minute and then realised he was so right! He quickly became my one of my favourite companions after that, in fact i think if you could just drag him around with zev and dog between the three of them they could see through anyone lol.

The companions are def my favourite part of all dragon age games :D

Funny how you bought that self-righteous schtick when the person who said it betrayed someone for personal gain.

Like every one of them? Not possible. Those I dislike, I never take the trouble to try to talk to them any more than I have to.

I can tolerate nearly all the DA companions.

But I actually LIKE nearly all the ME companions.

I don't have a problem with that though. Where ME had me attached and striving to keep everyone alive and happy (to a distracting degree), I actually don't care as much about that in DA, letting me RP easier. So I don't love, say, Vivienne. That's okay. I can keep her around and she can hate me or not, and I can do her quest or not.

Nope. It came close with both DA2 and DAI (if only it wasn't for Sebastian, Bethany, Solas, and Bull), but I hardly like anyone in DAO. Literally, it's just Alistair, Morrigan, and Zevran for me. If we count DAA, again, it's just barely enough to make a party (Anders, Nathaniel, and Sigrun).

I like all Bioware characters. Well.. maybe except Jacob. It's not hate though. I'm just indifferent towards him.

Well im pretty sure he'd argue it was for the good of ferelden not personal gain ;)  But what i meant was i thought it was great how the characters could make you review your opinion of the other characters and sometimes reveal things you hadn't noticed before. Its why i like trying to vary the group as much as i can.
