Hey all, just bought the game and looked 20+ threads back for information on this problem.
I've installed everything just fine, but when I got to Play the game (or use the Configure option), I get the message "Dragon Age Origins Configuration Utility has stopped working." Windows then shuts down the program when it can't find a solution. I've looked online, and the only "answer" I have found so far is a workaround through the Steam client; but in my Steam folder (steamapps) I only have Portal listed as a game, not DAO. My computer can more than handle the game, as it is about 9 months old. I'm running the following:
Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q2800 @ 2.33GHz 2.34 GHz
Memory (RAM): 4 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
All this on Windows Vista.
A little help would be appreciated, sorry if this is a common problem but as said I couldn't find a topic recently. Thank you!

The age of the PC is totally useless information, but you omitted the most important internal component of all from your list, and if there is no real video card from either ATI or nVIDIA in it, youi can forget this game. Sorry. Fact.Aureliano120 wrote...

Sorry for not mentioning it before, I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT graphics card.
Still no luck trying this again today. I am reinstalling it for a second time. Attempting to launch the game directly immediately results in an error. If it happens again once everything is loaded I'll post that error... it was something about a .dll file missing.

Still no responses back, so another update.
Looking online I found a possible work around by going directly to the game and skipping the launcher. However, when I try to run the game, I am told a certain file is missing (can't remember it off the top of my head, but something like a d3xd.dll or something). Looking it up, it's a file for DirectX 9.0c. However, my computer is running Direct X 10... and when I try to get the correct file or DirectX 9, I am told it is incompatible with my system.
So I think the new question is: does anyone know how to get DirectX 9 on a Vista computer with DirectX 10 that gives a compatibility error? Thanks.

Thanks for the update... but... you'll notice the last post in this thread, before yours, was about a year ago. Your generosity is appreciated, but it's forum policy not to dig up old topics. Thanks!
