Do we have confirmation that it's dwarven, or did the characters just assume?

I say this because I was reading about ancient underground cities in Turkey. I mean, humans n our times have done it, why not elves? :P (Yeah, yeah, it's probably dwarven.)

Maybe it was an elven artifact and curio that the dwarves bought because elves brought that touch of high-class?

Because I'm only good at copy/paste.

The Primeval Thaig, also colloquially known as "Bartrand's Folly"[1], is the earliest known thaig created by the dwarves, many years before the firstBlight, but it is so old that its existence has been forgotten. Dwarf history, recorded in the Memories, is said to begin with the founding of the first thaig, but the Primeval Thaig is apparently much older than even that.

The architecture is very different from other thaigs and dwarf constructions. This thaig is the only known one left entirely untouched by darkspawn. It possesses great statues and temples, and also things created by magic. Both of these things are very strange, since the dwarves worship no gods and are incapable of magic.

From ze wiki.

Edit: Sorry, I realize it's only relating to where the idol was found, but it could lend some juice to the theory-milkshake smoothie cocktail.

Double Edit ToP.  Um... I'll post what I did earlier in the thread, since I'm lazy and into self-promotion. <3

Haha, hey look, it's the cast of "Arlathan's Next Top Model"  Falon'Din (far right) is smizing SO hard right now.  Or is that blue steele?  OR MAGNUM?!

Fixed!  Here's the updated one with Ghilan'nain, I swear I'll figure my life out soon...

No one has said that we're glad you're gone.  The most that's been said are some of us are glad the smut will tone down.

meh, it's easier to post smut on like-minded party than a party that is split in the middle on how much smut is allowed. Besides, Solas is so ambiguous that you get people from all walks of life that there tends to be a conflict every 20-40 pages.

We'll have to collect 7 other artifacts of power related to the rest of the pantheon, then we will have to give them all to Solas/Fen'Harel because he is now Hermaeus Mora from Elder Scrolls. Creepy Lovecraftian tentacle many-eyed Daedra.

Is it bad how turned on I am by this idea?

Quite possible! I have actually been to the cisterns underneath Istanbul. They were FASCINATING. 11/10 would visit again.

I think what makes me question is the late adoption of paragon worship and the ancient nature of the forgotten thaig. Did Dwarves and Elves worship the same gods for a period of time? (If June was a dwarf, that certainly begs a question of its own).

Interestingly, Paragon worship didn't start until after the fall of Elvhenan. So that could be it. Also, I don't think it started until the capital moved to Orzammar from Kal Sharok (goddangit bioware!!!! I really need to go there and meet me some tainted dwarves!!!!!)

That's interesting, because wasn't there a theory that vallaslin were related to the tattoos of the dwarves and Qunari? It could be possible if that were the case.

I am seriously going to make those band patches. I WILL. The main headliners are Falon'Din and Abelas. Dirthamen, Zevran, and Fenris are the opening acts.

My body has never been more ready.

I know what kind of artifact Falon'Din wielded, one which definitely reflected his unique ruling style (finger-guns).

Not sure about the qunari, but the dwarves brand their casteless and now we know that the vallaslin were slave markings in Arlathan.  It does line up.

I have some theories about that <3 I'll post them in order from mundane to batshit.

1. We do know that some elves survived the fall of Elvhenan, like the refugees in Cad'halash (Cadash Thaig). It could be that it was taken to safety.

2. The creators probably had some dealings with the dwarves. The dwarves might be the longest-surviving culture on the face of Thedas (the memories in Orzammar alone date back 10,000 years. Who knows how long Kal Sharok records go?) Coupled with the theories that June was a dwarf himself...

3. Remember that creepy poem written by the profane? "We feast on the gods" or something? An interesting idea could be that the idol belongs to Sun Dad, not Elgar'nan himself. In that legend, Sun Dad scourges Earth Mom (the blight, perhaps?).

WOAH WOAH WOAH SOURCE IT SOURCE IT I MUST KNOW THIS IS IMPORTANT.

 I've been trying to figure out how the far back the Memories go for ages and you go and drop it casually into conversation!

Now I know how Liara feels with Shepard's lore-bombs in ME1.

Ten thousand years? Are you sure?

Because that would put the first dwarven settlement 1600 years before Arlathan. Which would mean that the Primeval Thaig was even older:o

So are you saying we need to touch all the dangerous god items in Thedas to craft the one true mark on our hand?

... I would actually be okay with this.

((Especially if it means I get to touch Falon'Din.. I mean his mystical magical item. Yes... That.))

his mystical magical item...right....i got ya

Holy ****, Liz!!! I was thinking about Skyhold and now I'm wondering if it was also Tyrdda Bright-Axe's stronghold. There's something weird with the forge according to Dagna.

Well great. Now on top of a hidden eluvian, I'm worried about a connection to the deep roads as well.

I APPROVE of this idea.

Perhaps the lands the Sun God destroyed before Elgar'nan started messing him up became the Sea of Ash?
I've become obsessed with the western wastelands, apparently.

I've never felt more proud of my Levellan repping June.  Just, look at that sass and frass!  How could you say no to his delightful offer of "Enchantment?"?! You couldn't say no, not in those outfits, not with that pout.

Seriously though, where did these pictures come from?

I found this interesting in the calling

"They raced ahead down the new passage, evidence of rubble appearing amind the darkspawn filth. Ancient statues lined the rocky walls here... had the Dwarves existed even here beneath the Deep roads?"

I will by 100.  Maybe 1000. Ok 1.

Is it weird I want Abelas face in patch form....i need to rep my love for him on my metal-battle jacket.
