I don't think they were widely known. I just knew of them because I live in a dumpster and shower myself with Falon'Din/Dirthamen/Andruil trash on the regular. I am that person.

 

But I feel everyone needs daily reminders of how awesome the glitter pantheon can be.

I am slowly descending into madness over characters that don't exist yet....

So I've got a rough theory:

The Orb of Destruction is listed as Mythal's in the dev notes, it's pictured being found by (presumably) Solas during the 'What Pride Has Wrought' mission. So let's say that it is indeed Mythal's.

Dorian mentions that the ancient paintings of the Neromenian Dreamers depicts them holding similar Orbs. How did they get them? Did they learn the secret of forging them, were they lesser copies, or did they outright steal them?

My theory is that, like Thelm/Dirthamen with the Alamarri, a god used the Neromenian Dreamers as tools to take down Mythal. During the divinely-aided assassination, the Neromenians ransacked Mythal's citadel as her followers were in shocked retreat, and stole as many of the Orbs as they could. Abelas or Solas or both of them on a bromantic adventure manage to secure the Orb of Destruction, one of the most powerful of the lot.

Alternatively, the Neromenians got theirs from Mythal's assassination, but Solas retained the Orb of Destruction, as he was raised to the Pantheon by Mythal. Even after he learned to make his own foci, he remained fond of his first gift from his best friend.

Another note, the supposed 'sinking' of Arlathan sounds a lot like the kind of cinematic show-stopping magical number that the Orb of Destruction tended to perform. The Neromenians wouldn't sink Arlathan if it was weak but still full of good loot. I'd pin it on either Solas sealing them away, or the remaining mages of Arlathan. (If Solas was responsible for sealing them, however, then he went into uthenera well-aware that things were going to hell. But sealing Arlathan would certainly count as 'exertions'.  )

So, assuming that any of that theory holds water, what gods would seem likeliest to be behind the Neromenians? We're so lacking in information that all our guesses are basically educated assumptions, but I still enjoy it.

I'm pretty sure that sages spend decades sequestered on mountain tops, in order to achieve this state of pure being. (Love the art, also)
