Could be both. Terrible blighted beings who are glamoured to look as much like their non-blighted glittery selves as possible, except they can't get all the details quite right. So there's a blighted eye, patches of withered skin, or teeth drawn up really high like a hurlock's. They're beautiful, but enough uncanny valley to give an onlooker the sense that something's wrong.
It's only when they're bloodied, or under extreme duress/anger do their illusions twist and fade into their "true" blighted forms. The hands fade first, revealing red lyrium studded hands where rings and bracelets used to be. The eyes are next, with a too wide smile and patchy, blighted skin emerging underneath.
Now, imagine if they shapeshifted as well. Flemeth can become a pretty fearsome dragon without being tainted, but if she had the Blight...
Falon'Din. A sickly owl with one blighted eye and one gold. Red lyrium bursts from its chest and its feathers are mottled and appear to be falling out. The talons are like raptor claws, with similar tendons so each are somewhat articulate. Red lyrium grows from the tips of its beak, injecting the Blight taint with every jab of its beak.
Dirthamen is like a bereskarn with sloughing skin and coiled spines piercing his skin. Beads and crow feathers are embedded in his skin, and he's missing an eye that is suspiciously on the same side as Falon'Din's blighted eye. LYrium is embedded around his spine and rid cage like a second skeleton.
Andruil is the horrid amalgam of hawk and rabbit with red lyrium across her neck and wrists like they were slit in sacrifice. Twisted rabbit arms are attached to the undersides of her wings and the rabbit feet for her back legs have balding fur, wide taloned feet. She is more like a DnD wyvern than a Dragon Age one in her shape. She has arrow head studding her chest and continues in a line down her stomach. They appear to be bleeding a thick, black substance.
Ghilan'nain is much like a tainted Halla or Hart. Her lower jaw is large and appears unhooked from the upper jaw, with a row of pointed teeth not at all like the molars of normal Halla. Her eyes are white like she has cataracts, but a baleful red glows from the center. Cloven hooves burn with a black goo, leaving bits behind in a trail wherever she walks. A mesh pattern like a net is burned into the flesh on her back, with red lyrium growths off to the side, clinking like wind chimes in a soft wind.
Um. Yeah. I may have a problem.
