I don't understand the smoke hair, but i like the colors.
Its symbolical - the smoke hair makes the matter turn into void -> as life comes to an end, it fades into the void and he as "friend of the dead" connection between the two as a guide.

What I dont like about swevenfox's renderings is that he makes them look like demons...they're not. They are elven gods. Flemythal doesn't have smoke hair...and she dresses super fabulously. Even if they weren't "gods" in the term, they were deemed so by their followers for a reason. They would be adorned with gold and jewels and anything remotely valuable and fantastic to reinforce their position as gods.
gods are fabulously and lavishly dressed. end rant because i'm still stuck on my painting of falon'din....
You have very strict and closed idea about how a god should look like and by your vision you are disrespectful towards my freedom of creativity and trying to sell your concept the way it almost giving me guilt for not portraying them the way you imagine them.
Let me tell you something.
Every human being is different from one another and they will have different vision on the same subject or topic and this is what makes the world colourful, and make it possible that game companies can surprise us with unique approach and ideas for their fandom. The world is not black and white and just because you have your own view on the visual appearance of them not means everyone else who sees differently insulting you directly or they wronged you or you have right to trash it without even notice it.
Gods through different cultures in our world are different and colourful and gods does not need to dress in gold and "glitter" to prove their godhood. For most basic example when do you see God and his one born child Jesus Christ wanting to prove to the Christians in gold that they are gods? The wealthiness of the churches and priests not means the God they serve Himself would appear in such ways. It just means the human speakers of the religion got wealthy and rich and they can worship and love their god in such rich terms.
Also there are many different cultures with powerful gods which were very simple in their appearance and they were still recognized as gods and some later cultures even adopted even if renamed some of these.
Odin (Nord in that case its not obvious)
And then we also have large list of gods who demanded human sacrifice for their show off of power over gold and jewelries and even more; some demanded children sacrifices finding a child more pure and innocent for their desires.
There are several ways to portray an entity of God or Goddess, and Mythal had a human vessel in Flemeth who was a human (by many guess an Avvar human mage) which gives little idea of how she really looked like in her glory as Mythal without need of a vessel.
You have right to dislike how I envision it but it is low and disrespectful to take it as an insult on your imagination and even 'rant' like I would assault your very mind and thoughts for thinking differently. I was not offending you, yet you directly trash my and by it also those wonderful writers imagination and creativity who may think differently about this.
The things I draw still have symbolical values with meaning behind, I have artistic approach in my works which not always taken the way they visually seen, but they represent a certain aspect and spiritualism behind the figure. The smokey hair is symbolical and it represent a shard of the aspect of that character and as an artist I have right to use my symbols and ideas without feel guilt or shame I wronged anyone with it.
While I personally not share your vision of them I never went to public source to make troubles that how much it differs from my imagination and try to make you feel uneasy for forcing my view on your visuals. I respect others opinion and side of view.
I except the same from you even if we have disagreement in a certain subject.
For further issues I would love to ask the thread to stop posting up my artwork here. While I do not mind different side of view (and normally even enjoy to discuss the reasons behind it and to know why others think differently - IF there is a mature way for that), I not feel comfortable of the way it was presented here and the lack of respect not makes it any better.
I kindly thank you for listening/reading and my apology if my words turned out to be uncomfortable to anyone. It is not an insult nor assault and not picking any fight - it was to me very uncomfortable and uncalled for and just wish to make it stop before it may hurt other people who I am collabing with.

So how about that pantheon? radical, right? Killing slaves, mind controlling people, living in mirrors, glistening skin. They so cool.
I like to think they're all stuck in different mirrors in an empty warehouse somewhere, just yelling at each other from their panes of glass. And they've been at it for over a thousand years.
"Oh my gosh Andruil, shut up about your stupid spear." said Elgarnan, glaring across the empty warehouse.
"You can't tell me what to do! I am the mighty huntress!" She said, striking a pose that would have been very grand indeed, had her mirror not been a too short for her to properly stand up in.
"Well now you're the mighty lady locked in her own damn Eluvian, just like the rest of us!" He yelled back.
"Would you guys keep it down? I'm trying to serenade Dirthamen here!" cried Falon'din, tossing his long braided hair over his shoulder in grave indignation.
"Well you're not doing a very good job, he looks as bored as the rest of us." said June, examining his short, recently chewed nails.
"Don't listen to him Falon, it's lovely poetry." said Dirthamen, barely concealing a yawn. "The verse about my hair glistening in the light of a Arlathan's disco ball was very touching."
June groaned.
"If only the warehouse was on fire." Sylaise muttered mournfully.
On the subject of Sloth I remember in the mage origin where sloth gave you and mouse a boost of power. Which eventually allow mouse (rage demon in disguise?) to go against the Pride demon in the end.
Also in the Broken Circle, sloth didn't fight and just transported you into the fade where his minions can deal with you there.
In DA2 you encounter a sloth demon that possessed a rock wraith; it ask you to leave it alone so that it can continue to eat (and get stronger).
I agree how sloth can be quite dangerous. They'd rather not fight and have to convince others to trust them and fight for them, it helps that they don't seem menacing (or pushy)at all and the consequences of their actions aren't very intimidate.
After all, inaction to anything can lead to devastating consequences.
While we're on the topic of mirrors, has it been discussed why the eluvians are so tall?
Exhibit A:
Did some really tall beings need to use it? Or perhaps they just wanted to fit all their big-ass furniture through when moving house?
I'm guessing it was just a stylistic choice, but you never know.
Sylaise, whose heat rivals Elgar'nan's light.
Sylaise, whose temples rival Mythal's cities.
Sylaise, whose breath rivals Andruil's spear.
Sylaise, whose skill rival June's craft.
Sylaise, whose fire cannot be quenched.
We give ourselves gladly to your service.
It is Sylaise who gave us fire and taught us how to use it.
It is Sylaise who showed us how to heal with herbs and with magic, and how to ease the passage of infants into this world. And again, it is Sylaise who showed us how to spin the fibers of plants into thread and rope.
We owe much to Sylaise, and that is why we sing to her when we kindle the fires and when we put them out. That is why we sprinkle our aravels with Sylaise's fragrant tree-moss, and ask that she protect them and all within.
Dang girl! Is there nothing you CANT do?!
Either Sylaise is very talented or is a complete liar

Isn't it mentioned somewhere that they used them for traveling, rather than roads? My brain is rusty. It would make sense to have them be so large though if you're hauling so many things between them.

I'd like to make a correct here. The spirit feeding off the rock wraiths is a Hunger demon, which is a different class than Sloth/Despair.
The eluvians have to be tall enough for the elaborate headdresses and ceremonial flags.
You're like the star of this thread why are you complaining aha.
I like the glitter. We wouldn't want the devs to forget about it while they're writing DLC, now would we?
You know. I never thought about that....

Andruil needs to express herself with her headresses....
Whenever I see this Andruil:

Someone ventured into the void that is page 3 to resurrect this thread... Keep doing that and someone will have to turn into a snake and knock your pan in.
You are the premier artist of the greatest god of the Pantheon. So . . . no one would complain if you resurrected your June drawing.
I'm not complaining I missed this thread! You're like the star of this thread why are you complaining aha.
Okay good cause we missed you too.

Makes sense, take a look at the head gear of the most powerful woman in thedas:

It's only natural that a god will have an even larger hat. I imagins ghilan'nains Halla horn headdress to look something like this:
