All together, now.
It's kind of dizzying having more than one thread to catch up on. ![]()
Even though the Sera=Andruil theory has good arguments, I so do not want it to be real. It would be redundant and kind of tiresome if a lot of elvhen gods happened to be in disguise, being hosted in mortal bodies.
Not to mention it ruins her theme to me. But I suppose an elven god simply wanting to be like all the ordinary people and ditch the whole "god" thing makes sense. Especially if she's no longer on that level. Just wouldn't be the same though. Not with the background she gave us. It's much more specific too than what Solas and Flemeth have given for instance. Main reason why I don't buy it.
If she is an elven God though, she'd be like Gabriel from Supernatural pretending not to be one of God's arc angels. And Gabriel is the ****, lol, so I guess I could roll with it.
The biggest reason I'm resistant to the Sera/Andruil threoy is the extreme coincidence it would require. Andruil's unknowing host just happened to join the Inquisition where another old god just happened to be? Mythal shows up for a reason that has nothing to do with coincidence. A convenient third god in the room would reek of bad writing to me.Even though the Sera=Andruil theory has good arguments, I so do not want it to be real. I could accept it if she's forgotten who she is, which explains why she was drawn to all of this in the first place. Past memories.
RE: Sera vs Andruil
I like the theory about the old god/archdemon souls being eluvian keys. IE Kieran having the soul from the archdemon in DA:O. Kieran is a little weird because he's carrying the soul around. Sandal and Sera would be other people who behave strangely because they are housing soul keys. There is way more to this theory, it's Geek Remix's theory on youtube. I like it though..it explains a lot of things about all three characters. And it doesnt mean any of them *are* the gods, they're just being affected by old god souls that correspond to the gods.

But this would also imply that there is "something wrong" with all non-conformist people (e.g., because they share their mind with something else) and I don't really like this. "Strange" is a matter of perspective after all.
.
I just want Andruil to be a sexy, awesome, badass, murder Goddess. I want her story to have the weight of tragedy. Her story has such potential.
This is all I want.
THIS. Sera is interesting to me because she's this person going through a MASSIVE existensial crisis. Her being...just Sera is a bit more affecting in terms of writing.
Andruil - there is so much potential there. Everything I've read in the codexes makes me feel sorry for her. I want her to be terrifying, wonderful, insane, and pitiable. I want her to BE the embodiment of the fall of the elvhen.

I would accept Sandal as more than he is. They've been hinting at that one for years. But Sera...nah. She's immature. Abrasive. And totally freaking the eff out. She's not really strange.
My confusion with the OGS theory is that it doesn't apply to every game. WE'll see in the future, but I have feeling that they aren't going to make it very important because not everybody had a Kieran.

Yes! Beautifully worded and everything I want. YES.
The strange behavior would be referring to the banter in which it is implied Sera is seeing things form the future, or from the fade, or just things other people cant see. (Which I agree could also be explained by her having magic and just not wanting to accept it). Sandal and his gift of prophecy and the the implication that Flemyth has been watching him and watching out for him. So I dont really see it as explaining away their personalities, just certain extra things going on with them/around them. As for Kieran, he isnt in the game enough to really know what he's like but in the dialogue it is stated that he is "strange" and that he hears voices and has dreams. He's not in everyone's playthrough but I thing the dark ritual is just a way to grab the soul and put it in a specific vessel as apposed to letting it fly off and pick a rando host. So if you didnt make a Kieran, some other rando would have that soul instead.

I kinda want her to be like Queen Elizabeth from Blackadder

I have so many feels for this particular picture
Coupled with the theme tune all over my faaaaaaaaceeeeee
Thank you nikki_tikki!!
Deedy....think I must have missed that in-game. What banter is it regarding Sera? What is it they say? And the stuff about Sandal?
Sorry, I've been sleeping at the back of that class and missed it lol
And that last paragraph? DEFINITELY what Thelm Gold-Handed/ Dirthamen did to Tyrdda and the pre-Avaars in trying to get the humans to cross the Waking Sea and take the Golden City.
I'm curious if Dirthamen resorted to that because he wanted disposable shock troops, plausible deniability, or his own priesthood and servants weren't enough. How far into the Decline was this, I wonder.
There's also the possibility that Sera is picking up on whatever Mythal has been transmitting to various elves. We know Sandal likely heard from her, and there are speculations he could be elf-blooded. Then there's an elven servant in DA:I who specifically says the person coming into his dreams addresses herself as Mythal.
What Mythal is transmitting though, we don't know. But it does seem to have to do with the future.

This is all stuff pointed out and compiled by Geek Remix on youtube. She has a few videos that cover the stuff about Sera and the old god soul key theory.
I tend to like theories that are really convoluted and make a bunch of connections that I would never have made, so her stuff really speaks to me lol ![]()

I kind of like the idea that they are "in tune" to her. Like they are some sort of hive mind and she's just waiting to switch them all to "kill all humans" mode.

My Lavellan awaits the command.
