I arrive with yet another musical tribute to the flashy fantastic, this from DJ Schmolli.  The song fits better with the Glitterotica than on the Solas thread, it being a manic picture of master Solas, shedding the too-comfortable trappings of the Inquisition and his love for Lavellan.  He takes in the power of his dearest (only?) friend and he’s cocked, locked, and ready to rock.

You see?  Solas isn’t a wolf, he’s a No Good Cockeyed Tiger.

Okay, maybe the Eye of the Tiger Lyrics made me think of him but then I got a giggle from how the rest of the lyrics could be finessed to fit, more or less, and all that energetic music just made me think, “Pantheon!”  And no, I haven't been drinking yet.

Finally, I've found a theme song for Ghilan'nain.  It explores the joy of creation and the horror of your well-intentioned gift to the world turning into a monster...a monster that eats boy bands, but let's not begrudge her an anachronism or two.

Yavana (daughter of Flemeth and wannabe host) said that it was the dragons that ruled the skies and that there was no Veil....so where are the Elves in this equation?

 

The Elgarnan's story reminds me alot of Greek/Roman creation stories: Older Diety is defeated and subsequently sealed and/or becomes a servant to the ruling diety.

 

Assuming that Dragons and their gods/rulers controlled the world, then perhaps Elgarnan (however he came to be) defeated the dragons and their Dieties and reduced them into servitude more or less. Perhaps Old Gods = the original rulers.

 

I'm more curious about the Dwarves involvement in the Old God's sealing.Could it have been a deal between Dwarves and Elves? The elves clearly benefit but what was in it for the Dwarves when surface issues really shouldn't be their problem? I'm pretty sure they used lyrium and runes to seal them up. Perhaps even red lyrium? It'll explain why Kieran gets nightmares when near lyrium, kinda like ptsd.

 

Whatver they used it was sinister enough for even the darkspawn to not go near an empty Old God prison cell.

I'm getting the same parallels from the myth.

The murals seem to depict dragons in flight, as allies of the Arlathani. (I'll make that a word, by gum.) They could be dragons coerced, Temple of Mythal style, or they could be the gods themselves and their followers in the 'form of the divine'.

My latest theory drabble inspired by your post that Elgar'nan and Mythal led a rebellion of sorts against the dragons everywhere, and used their blood and knowledge to establish themselves as the new gods. They tossed down the Old Gods with the aid of the dwarves, sealing them away. They used shapeshifting (which you have to know the soul of a creature to use, according to Morrigan and Shale's banter in Origins) to assume the form of the Old Gods, because hey, dragons literally rule.

I'm unsure how red lyrium and the Blight figures in here. 

The dwarves may have gotten paid in just plain gold, they may have gotten trading rights, military aid against a dwarven rival, the Titans may still have been in power and made an alliance with the Arlathani. (The Titans, it seems, were the creators of runes, which I imagine where used on a never beforeseen scale to seal away the Old Gods.)

Kieran having lyrium nightmares implies a ton, but I can't make anything from it. Not yet, at least.

I am interested in learning about how the Dwarven and Elven empires were linked. Aside from Cadash Thaig we don't really know much about them having much contact with eachother, but in WOT2 there is mention that Sandal was found near a mural with Elven heroes, Dwarven Paragons and Dragons.

Yeah, I'm curious about their role. Other than trading, Dwarves and Elves should probably leave each other to their own devices, yet they seem to have worked with each other in the past. Perhaps there was a great war which united Dwarves and Elves and other unknown creatures to defeat them? 

 

The fact that Archdemons are truly imprisond underground, near thaigs pretty much solidifies that Dwarves played a role in imprisoning them but why?

 

Perhaps dwarves losing their connection to the fade was intentional so that they will not be able to hear the Old God's song....they are quite literally right next door to an Old God's prison. Perhaps Dwarves (their Paragons) were meant to be the Old God's prison warden .... but something went wrong and things were forgotten. 

 

It might explain Sandal helping the last 2 protagonist
