Wow. I am *really* surprised. Patrick Weekes is an amazing writer, so that's great, but Dragon Age without David Gaider will feel weird!

Wow, talk about mixed emotions. I'm heartbroken that David Gaider is leaving Dragon Age, but really excited to see what he's working on next. And Patrick Weekes is probably my favorite BW writer, so I'm thrilled that he's taking the helm. Gosh, it's like I just finished a Bioware game with this roller coaster of emotions just from one post.

I'm more curious as to what it is he will be working on in the end.
Well, there is this third IP we know nothing about aside from it existing.

Did you like Krem, or the resources girl in Haven? Or Here Lies the Abyss
I don't think I bothered talking to the requisition officer there or if I did, she wasn't memorable for me. Here Lies the Abyss was good and I like Krem mostly for the potential rather than what was actually present in the game.

Good luck, David. I look forward to seeing what you'll create.
Please tell me its a reboot of Shadow Realms. I CANT STAND THE SUSPENSE!!!
RIP Shadow Realms. We hardly knew ye before we lost ye.
Whelp... there goes the Dragon Age franchise...
I thought the Dragon Age franchise died when Brent Knowles left? Or was it James Ohlen?
Yes, I believe the first announcement of DA's death was 2007.

Woah. D:
Like everyone else, apparently, mixed reaction! REALLY bummed to see Gaider leaving DA (delighted he hasn't left Bioware, though!), which is something I never really expected. He's done such a fantastic job with the series, and really his characters are usually my favorites. XD His influenced will be missed, although I'm sure this new project will be richer for it. ![]()
On the other hand, Patrick Weekes is probably the person I would be happiest with leading DA's writing team besides Gaider himself, so that's great! He's done brilliant work for Bioware in the past, bodes well for future DA projects.
Crazy. XD

So Gaider leaves DA and half the forum drowns in their sorrow while the other half celebrates.
Never change BSN.
Those two of my list are the unidimensional characters for me.Alistair unhardened is the shiny and sarcastic (boring for me rather than sarcastic) knight with the daddy complex. If hardened he is less of a stereotype but still the same unidimensional character far very far from Cassandra and Solas to be seen as a complex character. In Dorian i only see a wasted potential in his personal quest particularly the absence of a dialogue option that would convince him to help his father to mantain his family bloodline, in that quest is the Inquisitor responses who are unidimensional for the rest he his the 3rd of my favorite for DAI.
That is something that Dorian was firmly against, and that's also why Dorian's father wanted to use blood magic on Dorian. The whole being gay thing wasn't the issue.
Yes, I believe the first announcement of DA's death was 2007.
Yep, Dragon Age was dead before it even released.

David Gaider @davidgaider
So a bit of news: I have decided leave Dragon Age and move onto a new, upcoming BioWare project (which I can't discuss).
David Gaider @davidgaider
While it's hard to leave Dragon Age behind, 10 years is a long time to work on any one project. I decided it was time for something new.
David Gaider @davidgaider
I am happy, however, to leave Dragon Age in good hands: @PatrickWeekes will be Lead Writer once I'm gone. I can't think of anyone better.
Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw
What an honor it's been working with @davidgaider over the past years. And yet, he's already kicking ass on "new Bioware thing" ™
I wish mr. Gaider the best of luck with the new project! I will be looking forward to it. Congratulations to mr. Weekes! Dragon age is in good hands!
That said, I feel happy and sad, but you guys are some awesome writers and great at what you do. That goes for the whole bioware staff cheers!!

Thanks to David Gaider for many (MANY) hours of happy times playing Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate.
I'm sure I'll play whatever is next, too. (But the DA, BG games will always be very close to the top of a list of games I've enjoyed.)

On the bright side, with DA dead, it's impossible to kill.
How can you kill that which has no life??
