Yep, Dragon Age was dead before it even released.

Wow!  Still trolling after seven pages.

If you believe DA was/is dead, why are you posting on its forums?

That would make you... a vulture.  Or a hyena.

Hm... he was a pretty talented writer, so I wish him luck in the future.  I guess I should leave it at that, though.

I don't see a Dermain post seven pages ago.

Also they seem to be playing along with Maria Caliban's joke ie mocking the ever-present doomsayers.

So... wut?

Will he be still involved in the DLC of DA:I at the very least? I'd hope he'd keep writing for Cassandra.

Clearly he has left to work on the mash-up, Dragon Effect. See you soon in Thedas, Shepard.

Good luck to Mr Gaider on developing the new IP. Even more curious now as to what style of game it is.

I'm sad and anxious. A little upset.

I'm also grateful for Weekes, though. I'll try to hold onto that.

Good luck, Mr. Gaider. And thank you for so many of my favorites.

I wish him luck, he wrote my favorite LIs, but I can now understand why DAI's story wasn't very good, he was sick of the franchise. Which is totally understandable after ten freaking years. Hopefully this new project will get his creative juices flowing again and I look forward to hearing more about it.

Thank you, David Gaider, for your work on the Dragon Age games, for your interesting commentary on many things and for your honest and snarky way to talk to the fans. Good luck for the next project - about which I'm immensely curious and hope it will be something different.

As for DA, Patrick Weekes has written two rather well-written books I liked and several interesting characters I liked in two franchises, so I think he's a worthy successor. Given my impression of his writing and preferences, DA will probably not go into my preferred direction, but his competence is unquestioned.

Best of luck to David in the new project. Irrespective of whether you agree or disagree with him, it's impossible to doubt his commitment and passion for the stories he writes. Even those of us who have not been as fond of recent stuff as we were of older stuff can still be grateful for his long running contribution.

Going forward, Patrick Weekes should be a fine successor as steward of the franchise, and I wish him luck in his new role too.

So where did he ever say he was sick of the franchise?

Does this mean that from now on everyone will talk like Mordin?

I'm sad to see Gaider leaving Dragon Age  :( I always loved his writing in especially Origins   At least he's still with Bioware, so more great writing to come in the future, whatever the project be ;)

Sad to see him go... :( Wish him the best of luck in whatever he's working on now!

...but OMG WEEKES AS LEAD WRITER?!? YES~! He's written all my favourite parts from every game he's been in, and some great books too! Dragon Age couldn't be in better hands!  :D

I don't know if David Gaider will see this thread, but anyway thanks for all the hard work and all the good moments and good luck with the new project.

Good luck to Patrick Weekes on his new position for Dragon Age. I'm sure more excellent stories are coming.

Two things came to my mind after reading about this new:
1) Now it's official the Maker has left Thedas.
2) In DA:I

Spoiler

We can now sit back in the knowledge that the new game they're making will not have any romances.

Congrats and all the very best to Messrs Gaider and Weekes. Thank you David for being such a big part of making DA amazing so far, this news has certainly piqued my interest in the new IP, I look forward to reading more about it. I'm beyond thrilled that it's Patrick taking the reins, thank you for writing some of my favourite moments and characters in Mass Effect and DAI. I' m very excited to see what you can do with Dragon Age. :)

Or they will, but it all ends in tears.
