I feel terribly inefficient.  Someone talk of the ledge here cause I am about to scrap this playthrough. I like playing S and S tanks and I LOVE Templars.  Thing is I know Champions are better tanks period.  So I bring Blackwall and I end up playing an S and S offtank who specs for Horn of Valor in order to give party buffs and make up for not using a 2hander.  So I fall into this role if hybrid dpser/tank/ccer with all my knock downs while Cole annilates stuff and Viv supports.  That's another thing Viv as a KE is a better tank too lmao! So I have 3 very DEFENSIVE party members.  I end up slugging it out in boss fights and win cause well I am just not going to die.  I have to be doing something right if I haven't died YET (knock on wood) right?

I just see all these BAM 10 second dragon kills by assassins and feel like im fighting in World War I while these guys are Blitzkrieging!

The thing about the game is you don't have to be 100% efficient to beat it. Even on nightmare. People solo nightmare, so playing with a full party gives you lots of wiggle room. And most people say that nightmare in DAI is far less punishing than it was in prior games in the series. So if you really feel you aren't playing perfect and need to have that feeling, then go ahead and scrap it. Those quick dragon kills are all about knowing where the exploits are in the system. You just have to put in the time researching combat mechanic exploits.

But in a fight all that matters is you are still standing and the other guy is not. How it happened is just unimportant details for historians. As far as I'm concerned, if you are having fun and feeling a sense of accomplishment at surmounting the challenge, then those nagging thoughts at the back of your mind can take a long walk off a short pier.

And there will always be someone else in the world who can do something better than you. That shouldn't be a reason not to do it your own way, especially in gaming.

Thanks for the reply insaney. Your posts are always informative. But with the patched Vanguard tree my Templar is definitely born again hardcore. As armor bonuses are being added to frontal armor. Definitely makes a difference.
