Can the game be soloed in Nightmare difficulty with a Duel Wielding Rogue ? This isn't about weather it should be done or not or why it would be done. It's about CAN it be done ?We all know that an archer did it. And what would be the best specialization, Tempest or Assassin ? Which one has the highest survivablity ?

A DW rogue can run past every optional fight, because Flank Attack stealth has no duration cap. They can pick up quest items and loot chests in areas way, way over their level, without worrying that their stealth will wear off in the middle of a hostile camp.
They can safely loot the Tomb of Fairel (and get t3 masterwork weapon schematics) as soon as they get to Skyhold, without even breaking a sweat. Just Flank Attack a fennec, and you'll slip right by the poison spiders and wyverns.

Dagger Rogue was by far my easiest Nightmare solo.
Low on health? [somehow] Regen potion + flank attack
Flank attack + upgrade and lost in shadows [stealth upgrade] are amazing.
you can cruise through the game
attacking or not.

Id imagine it would be extremely useful for a solo rogue.
plus it makes rifts easy to disrupt during battle and you have access to flask of frost to give you a few seconds of DR

Pre - Skyhold will be rough but doable however it will take forever. Upgraded flank attack is certainly a requirement. Per specializations I would recommend assassin. + guard on hit (mainly for enemy AoE attacks), 2 forms of +hidden blades on hit combined with mark of death and upgraded hidden blades...well things simply melt. I find that the best defence is an over powered offensive arsenal. AI can't hurt you if the AI is dead.
As for rifts, the assassin focus ability is useless so you can use Mark of the Rift instead on the 2nd round of spawns.
All in all yes it is quite possible. I soloed the 1st two dragons in Emprise at lvl 18 and 19 (the 1st dragon leveled me) on my DW rogue.
I have soloed the game, unless a companion was forced, with both an archer and KE. Recently finished the game as a DW assassin but not completely solo as I was trying different party comps for banter. The archer was even easier than the KE and I believe a DW assassin can perform almost as good as the archer. Just make sure to craft/wear items that give you health...hehe.

Random question but does a rogue's poison ability affect an Artificer's bomb thing? Like can I have poisonous bombs?

If anything, Flank Attack + its stealth upgrade makes it easier to solo as a DW rogue vs. as an archer.

gotta agree with this.
i struggled with nightmare as a mage, archer, warrior. but as soon as i tried dw i was breezing through the game.
