So a bit of news: I have decided leave Dragon Age and move onto a new, upcoming BioWare project (which I can't discuss).
Seriously, him and Patrick Weekes were 90% of what I liked about DA:I. I'm such a pessimist lol, but I just don't see future games being any good now. This is akin to Drew K leaving Mass Effect and then you got ME3 which by all means was good, but just not enough like ME1 or ME2.
Didn't I read an interview where someone said they had the plot of the next 2 games figured out? So... the next one could be solid!
I think the series will be fine without him. He is a good writer, but he's only one of several people responsible for writing the Dragon Age series. With video game RPGs that have writing teams rather than a single author, I don't think the departure of a single writer has as big of an impact as some fans think it does.
Also...does this mean he is shifting over to the Mass Effect series? Or a new IP? Speculation ahoy....

*Sigh* I knew some thread like this would pop up... DUDE, Patrick Weeks is a good writer, let him try at least before you say the next DA game will suck, what if its better?
I overlooked the word 'new' the first time I read that tweet. I suppose that rules out Mass Effect? It's a new game, but not a new series.

That would be somewhat uncharacteristic considering they've said they didn't really plan the ME franchise at all. C-could bioware be... learning? Mi dios. Mi amigos, se reúnen alrededor, hemos visto algo grande hoy. Disfrútala.
Weekes was one of the few good writers for ME3. As long as he continues where Gaider was going with the story (since it's already mapped out) and the twists and turns it should be fine.

"I am happy, however, to leave Dragon Age in good hands: @PatrickWeekes will be Lead Writer once I'm gone. I can't think of anyone better."
So, it looks like at least one of them will still be directly involved...

Yeah and Mass Effect was planned to be a trilogy...
Anyway I take it back. My eyes lit up when I saw Patrick is now the lead and I realized how fitting that is with where DA:I ended. So I'm pretty darn excited and this thread is meaningless lol. Sorry. Awaiting lockdown :trollface:
I think this is good news, Patrick Weekes is lead and David Gaider is going for a new IP, sounds win/win to me.
