Because it's mandatory. No patch should ever be mandatory by itself. Sure, it might be required foe future DLC or updates, but if I want to play thus version of a single-player game, I should be allowed to do that forever without interference.
I do really like some aspects of the patch, particularly that the new control scheme is optional, but it shouldn't have been mandatory.

The ability to change where you look by moving the mouse. It was in DAI, but you had to hold down the RMB to keep it on. Now there's an option to have it on all the time, and activate/deactivate it with a key. There is a bug that makes it deactivate if you loot something, which limits its usefulness, and it doesn't work seamlessly with the tac cam, that's why they said it's a feature still in development, but they're working on that.
I can only say this new feature drastically reduces the strain on my fingers, since I used to hold down the RMB almost all the time in order to keep mouselook on.
Yeah well, this was in DAO and DA2 so I don't see how it can bother anyone at this point
that is one thing that didn't change from previous games

It fixed text size in subtitles, but not in all texts that I hoped : / I wonder when BW is going to do that, dialogue wheel's, wartable's and quest texts are still small as ever. I don't even bother with codexes anymore.
But I guess it's nice that I can at least read subtitles now without straining my eyes.

After playing some more here are somethings to consider regarding mouse look which is still in development. Fix it to resume after loot (already mentioned.) In tactical vew: camera rotation doesn't seem to work while mouse look is on. With mouse look on, when the game pauses when selecting an aoe spell, have it return to mouse pointer (so as to more easily place the spell), then after the spell is cast, have it return to mouse look on.
