I know he is not leaving Bioware. But, he is leaving a series he had worked immensly hard on, and I just wanted to thank him for the work he has done.
Thanks David Gaider, for all your hard work on the DA series.

Seconded.
Ups and downs, this plot thing or that qualm with DA2/I, blah blah; the truth is, I spent some amazing hours in all these games, and met even better people because of them.
Good luck with whatever this new beast is, Dave.

My third thought (after 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!' and 'oooo, but Patrick Weekes! Excellent!') was 'goddammit, now I'll have to buy the new IP when it comes out instead of waiting for it to be on sale.'
Hahaha, SO much this!! Patrick Weekes will be doing fine, he already wrote his way into my heart.
And hell yes, the new game/IP sounds really promising then, really excited what it's gonna be!
Still, Gaider actually wrote all my favourite characters. At the beginning I didn't know who wrote what, but when I looked them all up someday it was way too funny that he wrote all my favs.
Thanks David for your awesome work and here's to the future!

Agreed! Dragon age was one of the first franchises i simply fell in love with.
Im kinda excited too see where dragon age goes next and what the new project for gaider is, now i have two things to get excitable about! ![]()

Yes, I'm not usually this optimistic and nice, but this is how I feel too: I think DA is in good hands with Weekes, and knowing Gaider is in the new IP makes it more interesting to me. As long as Gaider stays in Bioware, I'm fine.
Now all I need to know is if in the new IP we're going to have guns, which is one of the very few things that makes me enjoy ME a little more than DA. Guns + Gaider characters = ![]()

I know that I will miss his writing at least and characters. And his snarky comments. Well at least he's still in Bioware ^^

Thank you David. It isn't only for your stories and characters. You were willing to come onto Tumblr and here onto the forums to talk with us. Many times when the forums were truly bad, you were a voice of snarky yet calm reason. I used to love reading your posts about the lore. I really appreciate the times you came here and chatted with us.
The forums aren't going to be the same without you. ![]()

Thank you Gaider for your tireless work in Dragon Age, and the best luck for whatever comes next for you!!
Thank you OP for this thread. I cant believe how aweful bsn can be to someone who has done so much for all the fans...
Id like to get my hands on some of the work from all this homemade critics happy that Gaider left the series, so that i could have something to wipe my ass with.... cause they must be so much better..... get real people. You are all ungrateful bastards who have no idea how hard this man worked to try to cater to every kind of fan out there. Yes even the hateful kind.... So stuff it with a dirty sock and go hate someone who deserves it..

Most of the original elements of the game which intrigued me (Maric & Loghain, Fiona, Alistair's parentage, so much of Origins' prehistory) were down to David Gaider. I read his books, his comics and I've pretty much enjoyed everything which he had a direct hand in.
So thank you, Mr Gaider.
I'm more than happy to have Patrick Weekes replacing him if he's chosen to move on, but I have total respect for the man. He gets far, far more online aggro than he ever deserved. These games would have been much poorer for not having his involvement.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to feel about this exactly. On one hand I'm sad to see David Gaider leave the Dragon Age franchise, but at the same time I'm excited that he'll be working on this new project. I'm happy that Patrick Weekes is the one who is taking over though, that should leave the Dragon Age franchise is good hands.
