I remember when DA:O came out, I /flipped/ out over that game. It was like my gaming wish came true. They had finally made a video game version of the Night's Watch and the Others from the A Song of Fire and Ice novels! Of course, when I played through I realized this game was far more than just a copy of an old fantasy standard. It was great. I loved the Darkspawn and I loved the Grey Wardens. The Wardens, as heroes, were exactly what I wanted. The last vanguard against evil who took in anything and anyone they could (including criminals) and threw them against their enemy. They weren't all prim and proper noble "heroes" with shining swords and armor but gritty, unwashed warriors who got the job done at any cost.
And the Darkspawn... they were great too. They could pop up from underground. They had all but ground the dwarves into extinction. And now they were coming for the world, and it was up to me and my hilarious buddy Alistair to stop them. It was exactly what I wanted.

Now, the new stuff. The Inquisitor. We have a sort of "chosen one" type of character who must maintain that noble appearance, lead an army of the faithful, and defeat one of the first darkspawn. While I love this game, and due to combat it's my favorite out of the two, I just can't get as into someone like the Inquisitor as I could the Grey Warden.
The bad guy/bad guys, on the other hand, I love. Corypheus, from Legacy to Inquisition is fantastic. It leaves just enough from our past (Architect, etc.,) to mystery for now, and explains just enough. Perfect. I had many "holy crap!!!" moments during the reveals in Inquisition, and even when thinking about everything. He's not just a mindless evil the way the Archdemon was. He thinks. He has flaws. Most of all, he thinks HE is in the right. And Samson/Calpernia were fantastic too. I love the idea of the Red Templars, even more than the darkspawn honestly (mostly because of their direct link to darkspawn, though).
So, what do you guys think? Am I right? Way off base?
