Hi guys!

Maybe this could go under the drawing tips thread, but as it is a quite specific topic I thought it would be better to start a new one.

As some of you know, I'm drawing a Ghilan'nain with a magnificent Steampunk metal mask, but I don't know how to shade it so it has a metal look. I've watched and read tutorials on shading but they're mostly about "organic" surfaces.

I'm taking a peek on Google, but I'd like to know if the wise members of this little group may give me some advice or point me to a really good tutorial/book.

Thank you!  <3

I also wish to know about this, I'm struggling with shading Cullen's armour. If someone find something please share :)

I asked my Mom who do lots of photos & browse her photos, apparently metals = high contrast. The brighter the light, the bigger the hightlighted zone... And hightlight zone & center light zone proportion vs darker part is much bigger than "organic" matte stuffs. That's what I observe anyway. Not very sure, please correct me if I'm wrong.

This is an excellent video tutorial in PS that can be easily translated into paper and pencil:

And this is a pretty good time-lapse of how to draw a butter knife:

Time-lapse for painting armour (this is very close to how I paint armour as well):
