Did you fight the legendary beast? I got some nice loot from that too, and my mage got a lovely new outfit from the Inquisition soldiers hanging around the desert where it gets so windy you are told to turn back.
I took Iron Bull and he had a lot to say about dwarves. I should try both him and Varric next time!
Bull is def. a good companion on that quest, I took him instead of Varric my 1st time, then did it with both (along with Dorian) and surprisingly, he has nothing to say when Varric is around... it's a good combo though, as there are plenty of Vints and red temps to slay, makes them both happy

Yeah I had Iron Bull, Cole and Blackwall with me. They all had something to say about the tombs and my Inquisitor even joined in sometimes. I think those 4 make a good bantering team, especially when we were fighting Darkspawn in the Western Approach! And Blackwall even confesses after a long time of unsureness that Cole's an alright kid. I love their growing friendship all 3 have after being together with me for so many quests! Sadly Cole almost blew it when he voiced Blackwall's private thoughts on Josephine, but it ended alright.

Blackwall's story about Wilfred and tripping balls in the desert delighted me, lmao. (He's the one who talked the first time I did the quest). I would love to hear what everyone's comments are, if they all have them. IB's are so cool.

I think my fav banter is between him and Cole when Cole comments on how his sword is bigger than his. Blackwall's reaction is too funny because Cole simply says "yours is bigger than mine"
oh and Iron Bull also wants to hook Cole up with a lady to experience sex. When Cole asks if he can lift his feet, IB says he'll lift more than that. My female Inquisitor was feeling awkward, I just know it!

...I bet Cole does have cool things to say there though. Dang I'm gonna have to take him when I get there with another character.

I should take Blackwall and Cole more, it seems! My default team for my main Quizzie is Blackwall/Sera/Dorian, occasionally replacing Dorian with Solas. Love Cole but I already play a dual wielding assassin.

I was a bit shocked with that banter, but it was funny! The IB one was after I made him human. IB wanted him to feel like a real man should. Poor kid was confused as ever, but willing!

Actually it's my phone background too.
I like walking around there. Its nice to have a nighttime map that isn't the mire, which is my least favorite map.

... so areas in the game have "appreciation threads" now? Huh...
Well, since I just noticed this, I guess I will say that I thought it was one of the better areas, if a bit light on NPCs... and by light I mean there weren't any except a couple random "hunters" with about two lines of dialogue each. However, I did enjoy the atmosphere and the ancient surface dwarf lore scattered about... by DA:I standards, this was a pretty well done area.

I love that night sky. Love, love, love. Like others have said, it was my favorite area to use when I just wanted to run around and listen to banter...

I say if we can have threads about glitter rock elvish pantheon gods we can have area appreciation threads.
I will die if someone makes an Exalted Plains appreciation thread though.

I personally like the bit about surface dwarves. That's a mind screw. I think the rather desolate atmosphere really does a good job of making the player pay attention to their surroundings, and that they have distinctive rock formations, etc. as landmarks to keep it interesting. Plus the dog merchant is nice.

I hate the Hissing wastes significantly less than I hate the Western Approach.
I like that I can find Royale sea silk there. I love Royale sea silk.

It has Lurkers, schematics and a dragon for me to test my new toys on, so yep I like the Hissing Wastes.
Schematics!
Pretty sure it has the best schematics in the whole game, if you got the $$$.

Bow, dagger and Bianca schematics in the Tombs as well.
If you're a Rogue, it should be the first stop IMO.

Not to mention those armor schematics for warriors.

Hissing Wastes has become my new favorite screenshot place, haha. Respeced my DD rogue as an archer and had her and Sera do leaping shots in front of the moon.
Spoiler
So pretty, Veeia!

I love the Hissing Wastes for it's beautiful scenery, atmosphere and some new insights into dwarven lore and history... plus it gives me a ton of nostalgia for the desert Ages in the various Myst games?
But the severe lack of any kind of story to go there, plot significance and the underwhelming loot at the end of your entire mile long trek back and forth across the desert, definitely brings it's rating down a little?
