I remember and interview Gaider did in 2013 or 2014 where he said he really enjoyed the setting of the ShadowRun universe, once that was an urban fantasy mix. So I think it would be nice if he was able to make a game in that setting.

Gaider outside of DA seems weird, though. Like Guns N Roses without Slash - just feels like something would be missing.

Axl Rose is going to sue you now for using GnR and Slash in the same sentence. :D

My thoughts:

1)It may be Bioware's 'weirdest' IP. DA is Fantasy, ME is Sci-Fi, NewIP may be something else entirely

2)Words that come to mind (accurate or not) from the super minimal information I've gotten: modern, magitech, Dune

3)Might not be either a shooter or RPG focus, though I wouldn't be surprised to see elements of both (as in it being a RPG to some extent, duh, and having first or third person perspective and action combat which may include shooting)

4)While its a new IP, I can imagine there being a sort of magical technology, neither as magical as DA, nor as technological as ME

That's all. I could be wrong with any of this.

He is still with Bioware, he is just working an a new I.P. for them (I might have took your comment the wrong way, not sure ).

Patrick Weekes is now in charge of Dragon Age's writing, he "wrote the Rannoch and Tuchanka story arcs of Mass Effect 3  and the Here Lies the Abyss quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition. He also [sic] also written the novel Dragon Age: The Masked Empire and the comic Mass Effect: Homeworlds #2."

I thought John Dombrow wrote the Tuchanka (Genophage) arc. And he's left BW right?

I went and looked into it, I'm quite uncertain because I've found source claiming that both Patrick Weekes and John Dombrow wrote the Tuchanka arc, maybe the worked on writing it together? John's LinkedIn makes that claim and reveals that he is no longer with Bioware and is currently working on Telltales Game of Thrones.

Partick Weekes LinkedIn doesn't reveal anything other than he is currently with Bioware: http://ca.linkedin.c...ekes/47/479/447

The way I read the twitter post you posted could mean that he had nothing to do with it and it was all Dombrow or that they both wrote it together, it does say equal credit. So, I believe the both wrote the arc together. I'm not sure though.

The tweet sounds like the genophage arc was written by John Dombrow and starred Weekes' character.

Found it!

Dombrow wrote the Tuchanka genophage arc and Weekes wrote Mordin's final send off.

http://blog.bioware....r-john-dombrow/

"Lately, that would be experiencing the Tuchanka genophage mission. I had spent so much time thinking about it and then writing it, that to finally see it in all its final glory, with finished cinematics, music and sound FX, was incredible."

and...

Boyd McKenzie’s artwork was incredible, and then I worked with two great cinematic designers, John Ebenger and Richard Boisvert to bring the scenes alive, along with our cinematics team that handled the Reaper vs. Thresher Maw fight. Then another writer, the very talented Patrick Weekes, who had created Mordin in Mass Effect 2, got involved in shaping and writing Mordin’s final goodbye in this mission to give him a proper sendoff (along with one last chance for Mordin to sing a song). "

So much of the ME team is gone now  :(

This is very odd, it seemed like the lore of DA was Gaider's baby.

Do we know if it's the SAME "New IP" that Edmonton or whoever was working on?

Cos aren't 80% of writers self conscious about their own work?

You may be self-conscious about it, but eventually you learn that these people have no idea what you're trying to do, and they're only giving suggestions based on what THEY want, not what's best for the series, so you start to tune them out. Listen to and evaluate the ideas and criticism, ignore the personal stuff.

I'm sure he did it years ago.

With DA and ME filling the quota for the two more... well-tread genres of high fantasy and space opera, I'm actually really curious about this new IP.  I'm guessing it won't be at all like the other two setting wise.  I'm still hoping, but not that hopeful, that it'll be an urban fantasy setting.  Really, anything other than military SciFI and genre High Fantasy in the Bioware style RPG would interest me at this point though.

I read once of a someone that played as a disembodied fae possessing a broomstick. It really is one of the best rpg systems out there

FATE Core and Dresden Files have an almost paradoxical nature to their freedom of player characters.

My first reaction to discovering the system was:

You can play as anything you want.  :D

Its times like those I realize how bad I am at character creation. I ended up becoming a creature simiiar to Bob, but in a coat

He does it every time a new game is about to come out when he downplays the importance of romances. The way it gets under the skin of some of the people on here is amusing to say the least.

More like a ghost of John Constantine, but I like your thinking
