There is also up-do's that would be from medium to long when un-done. There is ponytail one, bun one and braid one. So overall I'd say there is less short hairstyles than medium to long one's (I see everything that touches shoulders as long) unless you count butch haircuts as short. I don't now what I should even count them as cause butch-cut is butch-cut :P I think those hairstyles should have been limited to max 3 and more good hairstyles should have been done.

Though it's still qunari hair I have most problems with. Seriously only 4 hairstyles for female and 5 for male (bald included).

Butch cut is considered short hair, as is pixie cut. Medium length is shoulder length, in spite of the ponytails or braids. If a ponytail only reaches the back of the neck, it's a medium length hairdo. Because you can have very very very long ponytails if hair is truly long.

edit: And updos negate the length of the hair so you can't really assign a length to an updo.

I don't quite agree with many of these though, but okay ^^

How is the length negated just 'cause it's not all flowy and Pantene-y? I'm pretty sure that super elaborate braided up-do would HAVE to be incredibly long to work.

Not that it's not okay to want more, but... yeah. It's definitely Rapunzel hair, it's just up and out of the way which is practical.

I agree. Many braided styles are far longer than one can expect. The more complex is the braid, the more the hair are long.  ^_^

Honestly at this pont I'm beginning to consider letting the next DA (or any Bioware game for that matter) wait until I can get a new, proper gaming PC so that I can take advantage of mods because throughout all of ME as well as DA the hairstyles have consistently ranged from bad to ridiculous.

I'm referring to the hairdo being short, medium, or long - not the mathematical length of the hair when it is not styled into a "do." ;)

Sidestory:

I got my current PC in late 2011, and its hardware was on the upper end of medium specs. Turns out that its nearly the same as the PS4/One specs. Nice.

So I have a couple choices:

1)Keep this PC as it is for the rest of this decade, and use, I dunno, a tablet for other stuff. Get a totally new PC around early 2020s to take advantage of new games and gaming tech (VR?).

2)Upgrade my PC as I can, in the next couple years (maybe 2015, likely 2016-2017). If I do this it'll probably push back any plans like #1 (getting a totally new PC)

Carry on.

I would upgrade it. You're going to be ok for CPUs for the next couple years, and popping a new videocard in there is basically like jumping console gens.

(CPU - i5-2500, GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7870)

Yeah, that's the more likely thing. Unless I get distracted by other stuff, become less of a gamer, etc. I think even just spending $300-500 on my PC would work wonders.

But the #1 path may still happen (to a degree), because right now it'd probably be better if I saved every penny instead of putting it towards any sort of hardware.

ANYWAY OFF TOPIC OVER

Some people don't want their long hair up because they don't like the look or the feel.  Ponytails and buns hurt after awhile.  A long braid wouldn't.

Dear Bioware,

You guys need some tough love. I love you guys, but....... You guys fail at Hair, you've always failed at hair.

Are you going to continue being mean to your customer base? OR will you simply unlock your files so us modders can fix the hair issue for you?

I can make hair ten times better than any of your 3D modelers and I do this as a HOBBY. LOL. How pathetic is that?

Keep fighting the good fight buddy.

I don't care about physics at this point ... I just want some pretty hairstyles. I love that thick braid shown in the concept hairstyles for the game. Why on earth wasn't that included??? It would look great on dwarves. Man. I really just wish they would release some with the Black Emporium, especially for Qunari. I have seen some hairstyles that look absolutely amazing that modders have ready to import into the game but the modding tools don't seem to be making much progress in terms of adding meshes/hairstyles so ... I'm kinda losing hope at this point. -_- That mod that gets rid of sideburns for females is a godsend. I mean, REALLY?? Sideburns??? Argh.

Yes, I agree.  I think the Bioware devs just assume we'll shut up about the hair to show solidarity for gender fluidity.  Wrong.  Everyone wants good hair as an option.

I'm not entirely without hope.

Bioware has said they're 'looking into it' (they said that somewhere in the huge Qunari hair thread). And that doesn't sound very promising, does it?

But here's the thing; look at some of the other heavily requested features, additions and fixes.

Party storage- "We're looking into it."

Item tinting- "We're looking into it."

PC control fixes- "We're looking into it."

"We're looking into it" seems awfully dismissive I admit. Thing is they've said that about a lot of other things; things we either now have or have on the way. Item tinting, party storage, black emporium, etc.

I don't expect Bioware will say "Hey guys! More hairs are coming! Look out!" but I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll get more and better hairs down the road based on the fact that Bioware has so far done a surprisingly good job of listening to fan concerns and implementing new features and additions based on that feedback.

Agreed. It may not happen as fast as we'd like, but stuff (whatever that may be) is coming, and probably based on feedback.

I agree totally with this post, and this thread. I would love my female inquisitor to look like, well, a woman... and maybe even pretty. She looks like she takes the time to put on lip gloss (edit: and eye makeup!) after all, so some nice hair would definitely be appropriate.

Perhaps, though in the BE case, it might just be cut from launch. Or you're right. *shrug*

I don't buy that they can't after seeing Isabella and Hawk's and Merrill's hair options.  Women now have 18 million bald styles and maybe 4-5 "hair" that mostly includes me looking like Ellen Degeneres when I'd rather look like Portia.

Bioware, wassup?  Let's talk.

Those are probably easier to make maybe ?

What is actually the issue for me is that Bioware has taken such care with immersive environments. On the  one hand you have  incredible rolling waves in the  Storm Coast, the lushness of the Emerald Graves and the detail of the lone pine tree in the Hinterlands.

And then, on the other hand,  you have these plastered on uber fake-looking beards and mustaches. Also the design choice to make over half of the hair styles baldish and the much of the rest punk-dos ( punk was apparently very popular  in the 12th century, and all people had razors available to shave the side of their head) was really odd to me.

Yes, please lets have some nice hair styles
