Heights and Needles at a young age, but those fears are long gone. Not afraid of the dark, I love the night life. :)

Driving Phobia and...

Yeah same, had a few close calls and now I'm paranoid as all hell.

Every large bump I hit, I feel like I ran over someone's foot or dog.

Some betas would call me homophobic, to the which I say TOPLEL

There's nothing I fear to the point that I would lock up or hyperventilate or anything of the sort.

Pretty much this.

There's only one for me but it fits into that category, it won't lock me up. I have power over it. But it IS strong. It's heights, a pretty normal one. Last winter, like 14 months ago, some family went to New York City (which I love) and we went up to the Empire State Building. I felt obliged to go up, because my grandmother was directing the whole thing, and I even went outside with her, but it was incredibly terrifying. Didn't show a lick of it though.

Also remember a while back, I was like 14 or so (gosh, that's way longer ago than it feels like...), the "upper classmen" of our school went to Chicago, and we went up the John Hancock tower. That time, I pretty much just stood in the very center of the open area and tried not to look out the windows or think about where I was. The worst thing: I saw some kind of...I don't even know what to call it, it was like a metal scaffold on the outside of one of the walls, and you could step outside of the enclosed tower to be out there. That was terrifying to even look at.

And it's not just stuff that really is dangerous, just heights in general. I got a little antsy playing Far Cry 3, near the top of the radio towers.

As I said, though, for the most part I have power over it. I can go where anyone else would, I just don't like it.

Edit: I find tentacles and slimy slithery things horribly, horribly disgusting. I'm not afraid of them, but they wig me out big time.

I have paruresis. If i ****** in a public bathroom and someone enter. It's auto block my ******.

So it's a fear of being heard while pissing ? Pooping ? I never poop in public place lol.

That's no fear.

May or may not be the same myself, I was once taking a trip with some friends and I couldn't pee in the hotel because I could hear them talking. >.>

I have a rather strange thing with heights: I'm terrified of heights, but I can't resist going up tall buildings. Not just to look at the view, either: I go up them specifically to look down so I get even more scared. I guess the fear makes me feel alive.

That's not majorly suprising, people do a lot of things because they want to feel scared, that rush of adrenaline. Roller coasters come to mind (which I also dislike, now that I think about it).

Trypophobia's authenticity is actually debated.

For me though, spiders. And not like "ick, a spider," like "HOLY MOTHER OF F*CK!" It sucks hard.

I have something like Traffic Driving Phobia.

I don't have problem driving on the roads, but somewhere crowded with sh*tload of cars and narrow streets...

It makes me:

I used to be really scared of the dark and windows as I was younger. Now I don't think I have a phobia, not one I have discovered yet anyway.

I do get scared of stray dogs if I am alone, I nearly got attacked recently. 5 dogs and this big black dog which they all followed, first time I felt truly threatened (never been in a fight or experienced violence due to malice).

I also used to be uncomfortable around plants (weak I know).

I know some people have fears of spiders or heights or the dark. Which is pretty normal I think. I somewhat have a fear of heights and the dark too. I can't go to sleep with the lights on after watching a scary movie. Heights make me hyperventilate a bit.

But nothing compares to my trypophobia! I never even knew it had a name until just recently. I get terrified at the sight of small bunched up circles, holes, little bubbles... etc. Everyone thought I was crazy when I would explain it to people. Even I thought I was crazy! But it's actually a real thing. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. I think it all started when I was little and saw a documentary on frogs and one of them was carrying its eggs on its back. I was horrified at the sight!

So, do you have a phobia?

I instantly like this thread.

Please tell me what you are all afraid of?!

Sharing that info here is a bad idea. Someone could use it against you.

I fear nothing.

Why, I have no idea who that person could be...

On a related note, if you are still alive then you are afraid of something. Whether or not you want to admit that on the other  hand...

Precisely! I hate them all but I wont get them killed lol. I usually get them thrown outside and now that I live alone I HAVE to deal with them myself, so I close my eyes almost completely and have this long stick kinda thing I point out towards the spiders/bugs etc and get them to get up on them and then I quickly push them out the window haha.

You are aware that by moving them outside of their familiar environment you are actually killing them right?

Yes! Not sure if it's going to be a movie or more of a show though.

:crying: Hahaha

What the hell is that thing!!! Kill it with fire!

It's a miniseries if I recall correctly.

I camp, hike, & often take walks at night, so it's something I deal with often. Somehow a cloud being overhead draws an unavoidable sense of dread. Even though I think they're kind of beautiful. I like the sky at night. Not quite a paralyzing fear as much as heights or public speaking to be sure, but still an unavoidable and unwanted fear.

So what horrible experience happened to you where all of those things were present?

Trypophobia's authenticity is actually debated.

For me though, spiders. And not like "ick, a spider," like "HOLY MOTHER OF F*CK!" It sucks hard.

Not necessarily.

It's not recognized by the DSM, but that's not really surprising considering the abundance of phobias. Of course, it also depends on how severe the fear is. If it doesn't really impact the person's life then it isn't maladaptive.

Phobias are pretty similar to rule 34 anyways. If it exists, there is a fear of it.

I have a phone call phobia. I'm not even sure if it's really social anxiety, because I can communicate with people face-to-face just fine. But when it comes to making phone calls or receiving them, my heart starts pounding like crazy, my feet turn cold, my throat tightens up. Phone calls... *shudder*

It's not social phobia (anxiety).

I'm assuming you received extremely bad news while using a telephone, or something bad happened to you while you were using one. If you can figure out what that was then you're a step closer to overcoming it (but that's not as fun).

No... actually I wasn't... but what is a person to do then? I mean, you can't possibly house all of the spiders and killing them is out of the question for me, moving them outside seemed like the only natural option for me and it has even slowly started to help remove my arachnophobia which I never in a million years thought was ever possible but of course it's not about me in the end, I just care about the living, I don't want them to die, no matter what creature they are.

No phobias but a bit fear of heights, which is funny now since in my teens we had a habit of climbing on top of the apartment houses through the straight outside ladders, some of them eight stories high.

I have a phobia against people I hate who has deleted their accounts but then returns with alt accounts, they think I can't guess who they are but they are wrong. They don't know where I used to work! ;)
