But yeah, I'm many things, also Native, Carib especially.
But you're cool.

It's hardly a new notion to refer to someone who identifies and lives as the male gender with the pronoun "he".
You've said a lot, but my main takeaway is that no matter what, v = she and that's all there is to it, there are no other factors to consider. I respectfully disagree.
Islands or mainland South American?
Islands primarily. Boriken(or Puerto Rico) to be specific.
You quoted my post,
Which was in response to me. I was clarifying, because on BSN, if you don't you can be taking a permanent vacation because someone got their feelings hurt.
only two sentences,
Because I was on my phone at the time and didn't feel like scrolling through the atrocious way the quoting system works there by breaking it up.
and then addressed a claim I made about us somehow being extremely biased.
What claim did you actually make? None from what I actually responded to at the time besides the fact trans people like "representation," even though Krem doesn't represent trans people at all. I also said that people who think he's an amazing character have an extremely biased opinion. Do I need to prove that. No. Feel free to think they, or you for that matter, aren't. I'll go on living. You'll do the same. The Earth will still orbit the sun, and the same amount of fucks will be given. No skin off my nose.
It's clear you were addressing me and no amount of backtracking will change that. And given how trans characters have been portrayed in the past, it's clear that just being trans isn't the only reason - as many others have also mentioned - I like Krem.
Of course I was talking only to you, and no amount of me knowing what I meant more than you, a person I don't even know in any way shape or form, will change that. Thanks for telling me about myself. I'm glad the subject of the post I responded to, people, somehow meant only you. Realize that just because I say something in response to something you said, that does not mean I'm talking to or about you. And in case you didn't know, BioWare has stated before that the only other trans character in Dragon Age was in a comic. So no, Krem is really the only trans character in the games period. Serendipity, the only other close example, was a drag-queen prostitute.
You then elaborated and discussed how you didn't play games with an "agenda"
Which just about every Krem fan I ever seen has, and when someone disagrees they throw a fit, just like this thread has. Clamoring for "representation," to be "equal," and "fair," failing to realize that the very act of needing to ask for something completely takes away from the character. Honestly, **** like that is probably why the lead writer, a sexual minority member himself, had to leave and why BSN is the butt of many a joke 'round the web.
and made sarcastic remarks about how I would invalidate your opinion because you were "cis" and had "privilege".
I'm not going to go into how nothing I said pertains to you again. There's no point in talking to someone who's already made up their mind.
I hate the word cis, by the way. The proof is in the pudding, as the cliche goes. I'm not however, going to stoop to your level.
Don't care if you hate the word cis. It's accurate as long as people want to be called trans. You not wanting to stoop to my level aside, you sure like to play the victim card a lot for someone who's so disconnected from the non-truths I'm spouting.

Far more heat than is necessary here, I daresay. Oh well. It's one step in the growing process, and it's quite a good thing that Krem was implemented.

Cool. Descended from Illini myself. I currently work with a lot of Salish, Kootenai, Shoshone, Blackfoot, & Crow folks.
I enjoy learning about different Native American cultures. There's frequent pow wows around here and people are happy to share but they're mostly northwestern North American tribes. I wouldn't mind pm'ing you sometime about the culture if you're amenable. If not, I understand.
That's cool. I'm more of a Nuyorican though - ironically, I've lived in the South for a while now - as my relatives travel back and forth from there and I'd live with them up there for a while - so perhaps in that perspective I could give you something.

I just think it's great that the franchise has gone from no transgender representation in Origins, to Serendipity in DA2 (ugh), to Krem in DAI. Keep up the good work Bioware! :-)
DAO, had the some in the Pearl and IIRC there was also a castless TG prostitute in dust town.

WTH... I don't remember that....
WTH... I don't remember that....
Next to the side building all the way at the end where you beat up some of Jarvia's goons for the key to her hide out. Pretty sure she was TG, or at least had some serious dirt/five o'clock shadow going.

Actually, they did wind up giving female dwarves stubble in DA:I, so maybe she was merely a precursor to that... since she was in Dust Town, she may not have been able to afford razors.

I remember that character, I don't recall any stubble...

So, stubble or no stubble, was she actually a transgender prostitute? I don't recall talking to anyone who gave me that impression, and I spoke to everyone in Dust Town, but maybe I missed something...

There was a prostitute offering "a tumble" for coin, but I don't think she was transgender. See for yourself: She appears at the 12 minute mark

Ooooh okay... yeah, I don't remember this well because she only says this if you are in the process of asking about Jarvia. I always go straight to that poison dealer... yeah, ok.
Um... yeah, I don't think this person is meant to be transgender... just very haggard from living in Dust Town.
Anyway, thanks for satisfying my curiosity... this isn't really relevant to the topic so I should probably leave it at that.
Although transgenderism has been around since ancient times, it's "nice" to see that the concept seem to be still hard for some to understand and even accept that transgender people exist, cause it's blatant how many people in this thread try to claim they don't. Maybe that's still effect of Christianity in western society. I think people should also realise that Biology isn't only science that exists, there is lot of scientific information of transgenderism in Social Sciences like Sociology. Maybe take Anthony Giddens book Sociology and start reading about it there? ![]()

I'm a Christian. I don't deny their existence. ![]()
Everything's complicated..

Yep, however I think some values in western society still come from Middle Age's Christianity in terms of intolerance and fear towards unknown ^^;

There are over 30000 denominations, so I don't find that surprising. *rimshot
Besides, you hate Qunari! ![]()

Yeah, it's a mess.
I don't know if my views on Qunari have anything to do with my beliefs though. My dislike goes back further.. I've always been combative against authoritarian systems. Qunari remind me more of those stoic cops wearing mirrored sunglasses.. than anything. lol.. That's kind of the underlying image that angers me.

Not those. They belong in movies.

Actually, it's worse.
Take those cops. And then mix them with various political movements of the 20th century that got hung up on social engineering. That was pretty popular for awhile. Especially with communists (not to closely compare Qunari with communism though). It's nightmarish.
