To use or not to use the Well of Sorrows?

I've seen this debate in other places, but everyone always answers based on player knowledge.
However, the Inquisitor makes the choice whether to pursue the Well or not before learning of its real nature.

No real reason not to. I mean, apart from the "bound to the will of Mythal" thing but that's what Morrigan's for.

I had Morrigan drink from it because I wasn't sure if the well would have some weird effect on my quizzy, so I though better put Morrigan to good use , tbh I wasn't expecting the developments after.
I have yet to try having my quizzy drink it though, will try it on my next playthrough.

One my first playthrough before I knew what would happen my Inquisitor didn't want anyone taking the risk for her, so she drank from the well. Being Dalish also played a role, as well as my Inquisitor felt she was most reliable not to misuse the knowledge.

I let Morrigan drink. I hated having my Inquisitor pass up on power but I dislike my character being bound to the will of another even more. Morrigan might have been confident that the will of a dead god is no concern but it just put me more on alert. It seems like dead gods are even more dangerous then living ones in fantasy settings.
The sorrows just seemed like an excuse for the Game Master to take control of my character and do something horrible with them and most the game masters I know are jerks. As is the GM's job.

Meta reason is to keep Morrigan from being bound to Mythal.

Didn't trust Morrigan, why would my quis trust such an obvious power hungry women? He never fought and bled with her, he just met her at an Orleasion ball. Totally trustworthy right?

Like I said, I'm looking for answers based on roleplay rather than player knowledge.

My mage Inquisitor realized that even if Mythal never existed, the pool might still be able to bind her to Mythal's will, based on the legends and thoughts of the priests. She didn't think this risk worthwile, but Morrigan kept insisting that nothing bad could possibly happen. Given the little she knew of Mythal's legends, the Inquisitor figured that any threat Morrigan could pose would be kept in check through the curse. After all, Corypheus had needed someone else to drink from the well most likely for that reason.
I tried the other option on the second playthrough and liked the Morrigan version better. It seems to make more sense. Yeah, sure, the Dwarven Warrior will drink from the ancient elf pool and survive.

Making the leader of a massively powerful organization the slave of a god with dubious intentions seems like a horrible, horrible idea. From a meta perspective. Depends on the character otherwise.

Maelyn Trevelyan recognized the geas for what it was before she had to make the decision. She would've given a hand or an eye for the knowledge in the Well, but her freedom, never. She thinks people should get over their dependence on gods and would never become any god's servant.
As for Morrigan, she volunteered. Maelyn regrets the outcome, but had Morrigan been right, she'd have the knowledge without the curse. They both acted on what they knew, or thought they knew, at the time.
Also, neither of them knew that they will, probably, never have to pay the price, since Mythal is dead - though with gods, you never know.

I've never let any of my inkys drink from it and I never will. Morrigan can have the honor everytime.

I'm using it. The elves have failed in their task now anyway it plays out and are going to destroy it. [meta] And even if you don't drink, morrigan still does it anyhow.[/meta]
The only dilemma for me is wether to drink it myself or let Morrigan drink it. All in all, I trust her. She always comes of as shady, but she offers the most logical reasons why she should be the one drinking it [meta] and she's actually a good person [/meta].
Powering up Morrigan will pay off in the future, I hope.

My Warden-Commander could never let Morrigan become the slave of an elven Goddess, so he controlled telepathically my Inquisitor and made him drink from the Well.

Ok , I'm going to try.Aaaand people keep answering based on meta gaming.

My Inquisitor is andrastian, he thought nothing good would come from a heretical knowledge, he wanted to destroy the well but Solas said we sould use it, he trusted Solas in the matter of elven magic.
The only person who wanted to use it was Morrigan ( both Dorian and Solas refused), so he allowed Morrigan to drink.

Lavone believed that each race should handle it's own heritage, so she asked Abelas and Solas what they made of it. Abelas said destroy and Solas said that Morrigan should drink it. Lavone made several attempts to convince Morrigan to destroy the Well, but the game wouldn't let her. So Morrigan drank from the well that round.
Adair didn't trust magic, so no magic juice was entering his mouth. He also didn't care much for elven lore. They had their time in the past, but now humans ruled supreme. But Morrigan insisted that they needed the knowledge, so she got the honor of sipping from the well and hopefully she could blurt out the necessary knowledge before that curse she had talked about came into effect.
My other Inquisitors have not made it to this point. I think Bergstein would not drink from the well, since the well might be filled with acid, a cruel joke of the elven gods. Mytjan would probably not want elven lore to slip into shemlen hands, especially not something that came from Mythal, so he'd probably take the sip. Isalath will starve to death while mulling over the decision. Don't know about the others.

Ha, that's more or less what my current character felt about this.
"No thanks, I'm not messing with that".
There's always the moral concern of letting Morrigan take the risk, but you can question her regarding the consequences, which is about as good as a warning.

Ditto - my Inquisitors have never trusted Morrigan, never will. They don't know her from boo, all they have to go on is what Leliana says about her.

If you like Morrigan or elves (or you squizzy does) let Morrigan drink.
If you like a trippy supernatural atmosphere and romanticise the idea of lost knowledge (or your squiz does) drink it yourself.

Well my (2nd) character was a Dalish Mage so as the First of his Clan he was dedicated to uncovering and preserving the elven past. The chance to preserve some fragment of his elven culture and at the same time serve one of his gods? How could he pass up that opportunity?

Aaaand people keep answering based on meta gaming.
I give up.
My decision for my inkys is made from their pov. The people my inkys romance in DAI are Dorian, Cullen and Blackwall, and are - at that point of the game - in love and fully committed to them. None of my inkys are going to give up their freedom and endanger their future with their LI. No way. Morrigan can freely have the well, for all I care.
Also, the stern way Solas refuses to drink from the well, really sets the alarm bells ringing for my inkys.
