The game seems to keep giving you options to berate her for being an arrogant ass in the dialogue wheel, and each time I'm just like "Where's that even coming from?"

This is my first DA game, so I wouldn't know. But even if Morrigan was that bad in Origins, she's fairly nice and reasonable in the entirety of her screentime in DA:I. The Inquisitor is given no reason to feel that way about her.

And then there's this moment where Morrigan explains why she wants the Well of Sorrows, and you have the option to tell her you have a hard time picturing her as a champion of good. Again, based on what?

Leliana could have a reason to say that, since she knows her well. But the Inquisitor? His/her short time spent with Morrigan doesn't really warrant that attitude.

Of course, you can choose any dialogue options you want. But I'm surprised the devs would include dialogue that doesn't make sense if you actually use it.

I guess you can pretend Leliana made sure you knew exactly how rotten Morrigan can be to folks. But I understand what you are saying...I only play nice with her because she gave my IQ no reason to be feel unkindly to her.

I thought there were rumors of the Korcari Witches and they are feared and also not to be trusted. I think that's where the Inquisitor is basing their opinion, correct me if I'm wrong though.

I wish I had such options for Sera. And a "punch Sera" option.

So, does Morrigan die if she drinks from the Well?

And a good punch to the face during her disapproval cutscene. It would be delightful, my dear.

But let's not get too off-topic here.

What's the starred out word in the title?

The B word.

She does not die, but it is an interesting form of developments if she does drink from the well, especially if you played DAO. ;)

I think her lust for power is pretty clearly communicated just in DAI. She is not a villain, but she definitely makes herself out to seem untrustworthy. Solas calls her out for it, and I agree with him, she is a glutton for power, but she can barely comprehend the power she seeks.

I agree. From based on what the inquisitor appears to know, the only reason they could be making those remarks to her is based on her appearance (because it's so "edgy" and "dark"), which, eh.

Also extremely awkward is when the inquisitor is either smiling right away when they first see Morrigan or making this friendly remark to her as if they know her well, and even Morrigan goes "Uh, you don't know me mate" at one point. It's like they started to go with a 'Shepard meets Liara in ME3' approach and then realized why it wouldn't work since the inquisitor is not the Warden.

Yeah, Solas should be able to tell when someone is acting shady...he knows how to act shady, too.  :P

In my game, Leliana didn't even join the Hero of Ferelden's quest, so she didn't know a thing about Morrigan either... I agree that some of the dialogue options regarding Morrigan came out of nowhere based on the content of the game.  The only thing I found slightly questionable was her outright admission of being a blood mage, but there is no elaboration or discussion on this point.  IMO, that isn't really grounds for some of the dialogue choices the Inquisitor can select, especially since blood magic wasn't brought up in those choices from what I remember.  As such, I simply didn't choose them even though I know and dislike Morrigan from DA:O... Questioning her motives seemed reasonable in a few cases, but a lot of it was too extreme and borderline vitriolic.  It just didn't make any sense considering her behavior around the Inquisitor....

The B word.

But there's six stars... ******.

Oh, they obfuscate the word. I see. Carry on. Bastard. Wait, why's that allowed? Ass. Damn. ****. Wait, why're there only four stars for this!? This system is horrifically inconsistent!

There's one point where the Inquisitor can ask Leliana about Morrigan.  Perhaps this depends on your DAO options, but in mine, Leliana gives a little of Morrigan's history and basically tells the INQ to watch out for her.  Perhaps that is where some of the INQ's comment options for Morrigan come from.

She calls you out in your assumptions.

Like several dialogue options with recurring characters ( Leliana, Varric, Hawke, etc..), these options are indirectly meant for the player to use as well, as opposed to being strictly for IQ RP options.

It's a choice. Use it if you personally dislike her or are playing a certain character. Either way it's justifed for you or your IQ to call her a ****** if you so desire. Doesnt make her one :)

She clarifies that she is not a blood mage exactly, but that she has knowledge of it since she studies all types of magic.

I don't ever remember berating her for being an arse, but maybe that was only the 3rd option? Like the 1st is usually nice, while the 2nd is usually humorous and the 3rd is usually aggressive.

As for the Inquisitor not being able to picture her as a champion of good, I think they were referring to her appearance. She looks shady, with her yellow eyes, her coal black hair, her darkened eye sockets and her black and dark red dress and/or witch's robes.

In Origins she WAS a b!tch. She was cold (she even had cold spells ^^) and rude, though she did have a softer side, hence having been a romance option (in the Keep). Mostly she was rude to the good companions; Alistair, Leliana, Wynne - though there is not official alignment for any character.

Yes, she was! Although, I must admit, I never actually completed her romance. Although in the redo of my first game, I managed to get her to say something along the lines of "Then we'll just be two cute things." to my Warden - before we even talked to the templar at the entrance to Lothering.
