Morrigan is a single minded person without being a psychopath and that is apparantly not cool.

Put in a psychopath as stupid as hell and kicks openly on killing gruesomely and its absolutly cool.

Morrigan has a very strong personality and in todays groupthink society that means pritty much being outcast.

Funny how you can punch the male companion but not the females... not even as a female can you punch female companions like Vivienne..

I'm trying to remember ... is he the only companion you can punch/hit in any DA game? Imo more options for that should exist all around :P

OT:  It's conceivable to roleplay an Inquisitor who's distrustful of Morrigan for being an open apostate who dabbles in the dark arts.  Celene's Court certainly didn't care for her.

Or simply distrustful of/dislikes apostates. That's what I assumed the rude choices were for.

She does not die, but it is an interesting form of developments if she does drink from the well, especially if you played DAO. ;)

I laughed so hard she wanted the well I gave it to her and i was like ha take that for sleeping with Alistair

The game seems to keep giving you options to berate her for being an arrogant ass in the dialogue wheel, and each time I'm just like "Where's that even coming from?"

This is my first DA game, so I wouldn't know. But even if Morrigan was that bad in Origins, she's fairly nice and reasonable in the entirety of her screentime in DA:I. The Inquisitor is given no reason to feel that way about her.

And then there's this moment where Morrigan explains why she wants the Well of Sorrows, and you have the option to tell her you have a hard time picturing her as a champion of good. Again, based on what?

Leliana could have a reason to say that, since she knows her well. But the Inquisitor? His/her short time spent with Morrigan doesn't really warrant that attitude.

Of course, you can choose any dialogue options you want. But I'm surprised the devs would include dialogue that doesn't make sense if you actually use it.

It's a case of the writers breaking the fourth wall. If a player doesn't like Morrigan then they have the option to be rude to her. Only problem is, the IQ doesn't know jack shyt about Morrigan so the rude dialogue options come across as too familiar for a brand new PC. This is one of the reasons why I just do not like DA's approach of giving us a new PC for every game.

and becuase of my experience with her as the warden

That's now how you roleplay, son.

Unless you're RP'ing someone with multiple personality disorder, of course.

Or dissociative personality disorder, I think they've called it that these days.

Sorry, but Origins or Inquisition, I don't like her character and although my Inquisitor acts like they've never met her before, I know her character and I don't like nor trust her.  So I suppose I'm poorly RP'ing but if I don't like a character, a second or third outing (in the case of Leliana) is not going to make me like them.

You don't like her, your inquisitor might though.

Unless your Inquisitor is you, in which case you aren't RP'ing. Which is entirely your own choice btw, if that's how you wanna play.

oow oow Put "Punch Companion" option in the next patch. :)

I have played all three games, but I haven't read the books, still there is no reason the Inq. would think so poorly of Morrigan. Even with Lilliana making her a villain. At worse the Inq should say something like; "I don't trust you."

The reason why devs made dialogues that make no sense is because people in real life don't make sense, so they putted dialogues as these so people can relate to the Inquisitor by picking dialogue choice that is shortsighted and based on what just some rumors suggested because people always love to believe rumors first then to actually know a person before giving their own judge. So that is why we have such dialogue option, purely for bonding and relating to Inquisitor for being a judgemental...just as player! Such sweet bonding, it's giving tears to my eyes  :P

Oh and by the way...Cheers for this amazing bonding between players and dimwitted Inquisitors that they can relate to  :D!

I wonder what future scientists will make of the BSN "conversations".. who knows, maybe the "wisdom" of the internets will be all that is left after a third world war. I would love to see educational books written based on what they find on forums :D

Look... I like Morrigan, but let's not pretend she's just a misunderstood genius or something. She's got a tongue as sharp as a blade and is unafraid to use it. Morrigan is cutting and has her own interests at heart- which is fine, but that doesn't make her a nice person, either. She's a good character, and her jerkiness is part of that, speaking as someone who likes her a lot.

Funny thing is, my CE Warden was pretty much a psycho that killed or allowed people to be killed gruesomely, with Morrigan's approval.

Morrigan in DA:O was pretty cruel. I mean, just look at her reasoning to preferring that the Circle mages be slain. She doesn't support this with the idea that they may pose a risk, but rather that their lot simply don't deserve to live because they permitted themselves to be corralled by the Templars.

I think her lust for power is pretty clearly communicated just in DAI. She is not a villain, but she definitely makes herself out to seem untrustworthy. Solas calls her out for it, and I agree with him, she is a glutton for power, but she can barely comprehend the power she seeks.

Actually, in DAI it was the first time I thought otherwise.

I dunno if my local voice acting flavoured it differently, but there was something about her explanation -or rather her rant- about how every bit of history, mythical creatures and ancient artifacts are always found, handled the wrong way and then destroyed, when whatever was awoken reacted hostile in turn. I believed her.

It sounded very heartfelt and genuine, and I agreed. She definitely has changed in DAI and with that, I stopped trying to tame her seemingly aimless desire for raw power like I got used to throughout DA:O. For the first time, she seemed to care about the big picture, and I was inclined to support her views.

It's wonderful what happens to your judgement when you stop trying to get into someone's pants.

Spoiler

The thing about convo's like this in origins was she wasn't joking. She was genuinely a witch of the wilds with a completely different set of morals and way of doing things. Morrigan in DA:I makes more sense with Keiran she has a genuine reason to change and outright says it why she has.

The Inquisitor can't be ruthless however  generally  i prefer his agressive line option that i have  used often, it's give to him at least for me a great sense of authority.

The Dialog options are there because they are natural. People don't always pass by their conversation with logic unit before they spit it out. It tends to be visceral, spontaneous quite quickly. Its so easy to paint Morrigan (as in lore) as the villain; even more so, sneer at the freak (for Morrigan is exactly that) when not knowing the lore, the case I think is that of Inquisitor. You can sneer at her, so can your Inquisitor. Or you can value her, as one of the most honest person you would ever meet. So can your Inquisitor. Mine is the later.

So no, In my Inquisition, Morrigan is not a *****. Neither is Vivianne. They are people, that's all.

On the other hand, Sister Petrice totally was. A *****.

I can't really buy that Morrigan was at all serious when she made that suggestion, partly because I think she's savvy enough to understand that Alistair is the Warden's ally and has little reason to be rid of him, but mostly because Morrigan actually knows why the Wardens are needed to stop the Blight, and it's in her best interest to have him around, especially if our Warden is female.
