So i made like 4 or 5 characters before deciding for a face i liked (the difference between the character creator and ingame is quite big)

And every time (with different kinds of faces) i couldn't choose any other hair style than this one... I always play a female character because i feel awkward looking the whole day at a muscular dude lol (i've never felt represented by the characters i create).

Also i think long "pretty" hair for female characters is stupid for this kind of games, it's not a good idea to go into a fight with loose long hair...

Haha, Yeah the lack of hairstyles is rather big

Altho i find it a challange to try pick the odd ones and try to make em "work" .- My biggest challange is ....

I like the first option that's all the way to the left, the other ones doesn't look very straight to me.

90% of hairstyles are bald, what's up with that? all hipster hairstyles

it's not balanced at all

for guys we have ONE full hair on a head and the rest bald/half bald plus the women hairstyles copied pasted

 

it's beyond ridiculous

I can't find one single look that I enjoy for my inquisitor

 

you know you did something wrong when the hairstyles in DAO are better than this

Male hairstyles seem to suck more, Especially since creating a mage character with hair that isnt more suited to a girl or is basically bald gets you limited to the same ones we had in DAO,

I am not the best person to ask due to my extreme bias. I am not a fan of the human female in general, as the Maker deemed it fit to make them all look alike. If ever you make an elf, qunari or dwarf, let me know.

I will say that DAI has thee worst hairstyles I have seen in any game's CC. 

 

First of all males and females should have different hairstyles, not share them. There is nothing more cringe worthy seeing a male NPC have a hairstyle with a bun or Celene's hairstyle.

 

Secondly, each race should have at least three hairstyles specifically design for that race.

 

There is only one female hairstyle that is tolerable-the shoulder length hair with bangs swept to the right, the rest to me are just butt ugly.

 

One of the reasons I switched from playing DAI on Xbox One to the PC is awaiting the Modders to come out with far better hairstyles.

 

The developers should be embarrassed by these hairstyles. A mullet may have been cool back in 80s or even on Macgyver, but for a Dragon Age game? No just no.

 

 

Can you just imagine if Gandalf wore a mullet?

They really all look the same. T_T I tried my best to make mine somehow different but today on tumblr I saw a similar looking even though she clearly used different eye/lip...etc options.... no, I just can't.
Khm, but back to topic!

The hairstyles are generally a sore spot for me, but can we please talk about the qunari hairstyles here (all.the.three. available options)?

 

I mean I really wanted to make a qunari for my very first PT, I was super excited for it and then...I see THIS:

I still want to cry when I see it. T_T What is this if not half a$$ed? (I first thought I messed something up with the graphics setting, but NO, this is on ultra...)

 

I still hate the hairstyle options for humans/elves/dwarves, but at least there are usable ones (maybe 4?).

for males the longer hairstyles work well with the beards imo, shorter styles look good with the stubble, I really wanted longer hair though like shoulder length especially for the both male and female elves, shorter hairstyles kinda suck on them

It not so much that they generically SUCK. But a number of then do end up looking badly two-dimensional. These lead to awkward hairlines and some really poor looking textures.

 

There are a fair few clipping issues with ears that just can't be worked around either.

Honestly at this point the next DA game I buy is gonna have to wait until I finally manage to get myself a proper gaming PC so I can install mods and have more than two hairstyles to choose from.

Alternatively, BIoware should just outsource the creation of hair to the modders to begin with.

Also, the eyebrows. There are maybe three eyebrow sets that don't look like angry caterpillars trying to invade the poor Inquisitor's face.

I love DAI, don't get me wrong, there are so many things it does absolutely right. This is just not one of them.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't mind the hairstyles so much. My canon IQ rocks short "warrior-goddess" hair and does so with class. It's all about immersion for me with these games and short hair is practical for a warrior.

I've tried to use that hairstyle a few times and never thought it looked right on my characters. She pulls that off flawlessly though.

That's probably my favorite hair in the game, honestly. It tends to look good on many faces. Plus it's unique and awesome.

 

 

 

Anyway, I don't think the hairstyles suck, per say, I just think there are so bloody few of them. We've got at least a dozen bald/buzzcuts for crying out loud. I love that they didn't put restrictions on gender for the hair, but I wish they had created at least twice as many that weren't mere buzzcuts. It's lazy design in my opinion.
