I guess I'm the only one that doesn't mind the hairstyles so much. My canon IQ rocks short "warrior-goddess" hair and does so with class. It's all about immersion for me with these games and short hair is practical for a warrior.

She wear it well. But I can't unsee the fact that Cullen have a less recessive hairline. And one or two almost decent hairstyles is too little.

Some women do have "M" shaped hairlines like that, and that doesn't necessarily mean receding. If she had long hair you wouldn't even notice.

This ties back to the complaints some have about the size of the foreheads in-game. I don't think it's bad at all, maybe because I have a prominent forehead irl - but it fits my face shape.

That's way too short for my taste, plus not all are warriors. A mage or a rogue doesn't necessarily need short hair for practical reasons and hair can always be tied. A Warrior can do just fine with longer hair, as well. Just look at Xena or Lady Sif from 'Thor: The Dark World' and many others. Not that I'm looking for a really long hair. Some nice shoulder length styles would be appreciated. There's nothing wrong with short styles but currently we only have short styles and 50 shades of bald.

Though I can see your point, the bolded don't exactly count as realistic examples. I have hair down to my lower back and I can't stand it being unbound even to do housework, let alone anything that requires a high level of movement that requires 100% unimpaired vision. I've even read a few fanfics that elaborated on the idea if the IQ needing to cut her hair because it impaired her ability to fight at her best - I really appreciated that level of detail.

I also use the style with the shaved sides and braid for some of my IQ's. In my head, that style is like a long flowing mohawk, bound and tucked under the IQ's armor to keep it out of the way.

I have "M" shaped hairline too. but is definitely not so hight. I've tried this style on one of my dwarfette. I like it, but is really too hight, and give the impression of recessing hairline. Very noticeable during scenes with Cullen or others male characters.

I actually let my long hair be untied most of the time. I usually tie it only when doing gardening. :)  But anyways, like I said, I hope for shoulder length hair for my archers and mages. Those are the only ones I play in DAI. There are already two shoulder length hairs in game, so it wouldn't be impossible for BW to do. Or some nice braided styles, like in the DAI concept art pics.

Yeah, my forehead is and always has been huge, so I don't mind the high hairlines. What I do mind is that some of the hairstyles don't make contact with the forehead. The braided up-do, Celene's hairstyle, is the worst offender, but it's my "go to" hairstyle for women because I like long hair.

Yes. IMO human women in this game can't pull these hair styles off without the look of a receding hairline.

Irl, women may have M shaped hairlines or prominently long foreheads, but it's usually balanced by other features on the face. I have a short forehead, but a looooooong face. Human women in this game have long faces AND long foreheads. Elves, dwarves and qunari don't exist irl, so who's to say how their faces fit together. But humans, no. I've attempted, but always ended up criticizing my human creations for becoming the drag queen, Botoxed Frankenstein's monsters of Thedas.  Humans are the most popular race, so the majority of gamers see things differently obviously, but I simply cannot unsee Frankenstein.

It is possible to make realistic human females with a little work. I was able to make a facial "self-insert" that I posted in the "post pics of your inquisitor" thread. All I had to do to get around the super long face was to shorten the jaw and chin. The only thing I couldn't get 100% was the nose (and of course the eyebrows but they are close).

I usually leave my hair down most of the time, except when I'm doing anything around the house or when it's super hot out, or when I'm driving my convertible (of course - that's a scary rat's nest waiting to happen). I have so much hair that it's like wearing a wool sweater around my neck so I get really hot easily if I don't put it up during the summer.

For some perhaps. In general though I think this game handles Caucasian features better. I'm a typical Japanese with long, oval face and prominent (if not exaggerated) cheekbones. The game doesn't do cheekbones well--smiles get real stupid looking real fast  . I've also seen the Asian inquisitor thread, and I'm mostly not impressed. Also, the long forehead issue--that's fine for those it suits, but it's difficult to trim on a human without setting the proportions off, imo.

However, it's all a moot point in the end. I've no real interest in playing human females unless it's a "worst world state" run  , and I always make such characters rather wretched in appearance

I haven't gotten DAI yet, and I wanted to make a Qunari Female Mage but after seeing their hairstyles I'm turned off of the game a little... ugh. They're all short and ratty. Why don't they have longer hairs like in their concept art?

And the clothes are sorta ugly too. Why are all clothes so masculine looking? I don't mean just because they don't have high heels or breast-shaped armor, they're wearing saggy slacks and button up shits with vests, its so ugly on women. Are there any, like, normal robes or dresses that can look at least semi feminine?

Not hating on the game altogether, like I said I haven't played it yet and a lot of the other art looks good, I just mainly have issues with available hairstyles and clothing options for women, especially Qunari women.

Yeah, I wish there are more...modern hair styles :D

I just can't choose any other hair other than that one that actually looks good :)

Modern?

Main problem with why we got what we got is because BW tried to be modern! I just wish if they went with true medieval hair instead to avoid all the buzz-cuts we've got

I want to steal her! Too bad there's no character code like in ME

Even though I'd never do this to my own hair, I like the way this style frames her face.  I've used it on a couple other of my Inquisitors, too.

For those talking about warriors having short hair for practicality, I wanted to offer 2 counter-points:

1. Out of the 3 classes, warriors are the most likely to use helmets, and would benefit greatly from them. This eliminates the problem of long hair falling over your eyes. I personally hide helmets most of the time, but that's story/gameplay segregation. They're still wearing them.

2. Long hair could be tied back/etc. before combat. As it stands now, you could headcanon your Inquisitor's hair being tied back in combat, and being down in cutscenes etc. Ideally, I would love a system that could do this automatically with certain hairstyles, in the same way you can hide helmets. I didn't expect this feature, but I submit it as an idea for future games. I think it would be quite refreshing to see your character (and NPCs) look different in different scenarios. It would add variety and realism.

Can you rate my Human? Since no one rated it in another post

This actual eye color (Because of the lighting in the first picture it looks different)

I'll try to take more pictures :)

She is pretty, I would have raised her nostrils a tad, with the nostril size slider.  The outer edge of female nostrils tends to be a bit higher than that but, it can wait for the Black Emporium. I'd give her a 9/10

To play devil's advocate to your first point, have you ever tried to wear any sort of helmet with long hair? It's extremely uncomfortable - and you look like utter crapola when you take it off. And your hair can still work it's way forward and over your eyes - the helmet just makes it harder to get it out of your eyes once it's there. Not to mention the long hair makes you sweat oh so much more, leading to other problems, including itchies. And all that is coming from experience wearing a motorcycle helmet that actually has air vents! It never happens like it does in the movies, where the busty blonde takes off her helmet to release gorgeous flowing locks. It's much much more embarrassing (more like a sweaty, wet, matted rat's nest) unless you have your hair tied up or covered with a bandanna in the helmet (though it still ends up sweaty and gross). But be careful with how you tie it up or the helmet won't sit right! So yeah, I can easily see the practicality of just chopping it off.

To your second point, I could totally sign on for that sort of feature. Until that happens, I will be happy with short hair and that style that looks like it could actually be long hair but is tied and tucked under the neckline - this one:

Those are some good points! I suppose it depends on the helmet, and we don't really know how well it would work with the ones ingame. I would assume they have cloth hairnets inside them to keep your hair down, but who knows? And that will definitely be sweaty. Of course, your hair could still fall into your face, yes. After all, you're going to be moving around a lot. Tying it back first with or without a helmet seems to be the best option then.

I'm glad you liked my idea! Oh, I'm definitely not against short hairstyles. I'm glad they have them, I just wish they also had more of the longer ones. Ah, I see. The style you showed is the only one I can think of that looks like it could be tucked in from what I remember. Depends on the outfit though.

It's nice that there is short styles for those who like them but there should also be a bit longer styles for those who do not. In the end, this is just a game and therefore we don't have to worry about hair getting into our inky's eyes during battle or whether or not she feels hot and uncomfortable while wearing a helmet, or if the hair is sticking out from the said helmet (which it wouldn't since BW is already using the leather caps under them). Personally I always have the helmets invisible in game, anyway. It's all about customization choices and in a game like this, those should hold more than male styles and baldies.

Esp if you're a mage who can quite clearly cast a spell for perfect hair at all times, "Vidal sassoon!"

Viv has a spell for anti-aging anyway.

Also, the eyebrows, while I don't mind the strangeness and downright cartoon villain aspect some of them have, I do agree there should be some more "normal" versions. The "good" ones all have the look of hypothyroid to them

I have meaning to try them but... Does modding an eyebrows or hair or an outfit into the game permanently affect the save games? Like when a patch comes or you want to get rid off the modded parts or change them into another ones and then your saves don't work anymore. I loved the Gibbed for ME games due to it's easiness and was just wondering whether the DAI modding tools work the same way.

You can preserve your saves and swap out mods rather easily, though it takes a little more work than with games like Skyrim, etc. You actually have to merge the mods with the official patch, so every time a new patch comes out, or you want to install a new mod, you need to re-patch all your mods back into the official patch. Just shoot me a PM if you need any help with the process.
