You can preserve your saves and swap out mods rather easily, though it takes a little more work than with games like Skyrim, etc. You actually have to merge the mods with the official patch, so every time a new patch comes out, or you want to install a new mod, you need to re-patch all your mods back into the official patch. Just shoot me a PM if you need any help with the process.

So, basically new patch just reverts any changes made into original ones without corrupting save files? Oh, and thank you for the answer. :)

This is the process that I follow and it works nicely:

  • Navigate to the official patch (mine is in C:\Games\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch). Open up the patch in notepad and make note of the version # - should currently be version 6
  • Make your new merged patch as always with the Mod Manager and save it to a new folder in the "Update" folder (example C:\Games\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\New Folder)
  • Change the name of your "Patch" folder (currently housing the official patch) to an alternate name, something like "PatchV"
  • Change the extension of the official patch to .bak (example package.mft.bak). This will prevent the game from being conflicted with having two patches of the same version. If you need to re-patch your mods, just remove the .bak extension or the Mod Manager will crash.
  • Change the name of your "New Folder" to "Patch" This will point the game to use the modded patch.
  • In order to preserve your saves, you will now want to open up the modded patch and change the version number to match that of the official patch (in this case from 7 to 6). NOTE: If the merged patch you were using previously before this release was a higher number than 6 (I don't see why it would be) do not change it. If you do, then you will get an error in-game saying that your saves were created with a more recent version.

Thank you for the detailed instructions. I copied them into Word document just in case and they're very helpful. Oh, and now there are so many nice things to try out there.  :)

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't mind the hairstyles so much. My canon IQ rocks short "warrior-goddess" hair and does so with class. It's all about immersion for me with these games and short hair is practical for a warrior.

I really like this character. Love the somewhat gothic look and she indeed rocks that hair. I think it's my favorite hairstyle from the game too.

I personally was somewhat disappointed with the hair styles but not because I would have wanted "long lustrous locks" or anything. I was disappointed because there wasn't simple ponytails or braids or the slick "swept back" look. There are sort of variations of those but they aren't really what I was looking for.

Thank you! She's my canon playthrough - angsty - tragic - self sacrificing Templar romancing a Cullen still on lyrium. I got this awesome shot of her last night:

The over abundance of shaved head choices is something I have pegged as being lazy. Some of my Inky's have that hairstyle only because it really is the only one that would look somewhat decent on them.

I agree, simply for the fact that longer hair tends to look like straw or play-doh hair. The shaved styles just look better. Either way, I would still go with the shorter styles for my immersion purposes, but I wish the quality of hair was still better for everyone that wants longer styles.

I'm still waiting for someone to unlock Morrigan's hair, like they did for DA:O. I would totally rock that one.

Well I don't think anyone would care, but I'm starting to take the time to put together what I think would be Lore friendly hair styles for the races, and accessories I believe would also be helpful if added in future DLC, as I am all for adding for customization.

Ps. it's not just hairs, it's gonna be Hoods, and what I think would be acceptable accessories instead of tattoos

Is this now a post pictures of your inquisitors thread?

We can make it that, I don't mind. The theme will be bad hair day every day.

Fugly Fugglesworth (unsure of that is the human's name or the name of the hairstyle):

In memoram, as she is a human female, and was therefore destroyed.

OMG! I want to wipe her nose and pat her on the head and send her to bed with a stuffed toy! She looks eight years old to me. LOL

Yeah... I was wondering if they got TOOOOOOO involved in medeval history and discovered the abundance of body lice that exsisted. So decided everyone would be in a different stage of being shaved down for delicing. lol

Hey I was trying to give them some reason other than just plain laziness and apathy, because surely they know that the ability to create a toon you like which includeds appropriate pretty hairstyles is a significant part of who will and wont buy a game?

Something as simple as giving gamers an option to pick their toons race, sex and hairstyle is a large part of why many people buy ROLE PLAYING GAMES!

I, for one, would love to play Assassins Creed and Witcher games, They sound like they have wonderful story lines and gameing fun, but I refuse to play a game I can not make a female character. Just making the choice of not allow people to personalize their toon can cut game profits a lot. (yes I know it costs a lot more to add the ability to make custume characters, but it also increases game sales so it is a choice they balance when they make a new game)

Besides if I payed someone to create say '10' hairstyles for a game and 7 of them were basically just different versions of "BALD" someone would be getting fired!

I wonder who approved those hairstyles to begin with? Someone had to bring them to the main game developers and proudly show them their ideas.... do you really think they sat there with looks of wonder on their faces and fawned over how magnificent they were?! Surely to God, someone must had said (at least to themselves). "Oh, Holy H... E... Double Hockey Sticks! This is going to come back and bite us in the buttocks!" just before he turned it over to be turned into a program. LOL
