You know, with bioware not using the same protagonists for their games, how will we ever find a suitable future one?

I mean, DAI leaves thedas with the most powerful army ever: the inquisition. How will any 1 person ever matter in problems that the inquisition (and by extension, inquisitor) can not handle?

Unless the game is based somewhere totally different... Like Qunari-country Seheron (couldn't think of the name at first) or tevinter...

They said they were heading north next. The Inquisition will have little impact there. Thedas is more than just Fereldon and Orlais and we'd like to see more of it, not just hear about it.

^This. I'm sure the next game will focus on matters on which the Inquisition will have nothing to do.

The next game is so far off in the future that anything could change development-wise. I'm still betting on a ME-move and playing as the IQ again, which would be completely fine by me. Too much is left untold with what's going on with the Wardens, the HoF's mission to cure the Calling, and the whole Mythal/Well of Sorrows thing. Not to mention the bomb-drop with Solas. Before that he says "Whatever happens..." I think the IQ is too connected with him to not be featured in whatever he does next.

I like the idea of being a power climber in Tevinter.

It can follow the increasing power/control trend from Inquisition, but in a much different context and requirements.

And you certainly are NO chosen one, this time.

EDIT: I want most Inquisition threads to close off in substantially sized and high quality DLC adventures - taking place during or after the main game, with many challenges and perhaps a whole new gear tier, resulting in the size of (or greater than) what a single 'expansion' would be.

I'm expecting the Inquisition to fall at some point...

I want to go to Tevinter SO BAD!!!

especially since my city elf Warden from Origins has some unfinished business there...

I personally wouldn't like the same character again. The Inquisitor is innately a good guy, no murder knife for example. And that's cool for 1 game, but I like diversity in main characters.

if up north is the move i don't think the inquisitor should return if anything it should be someone native to that region because culture up north is totally different then down south so i would rather a new hero in a new land where everything can be developed to the players together. at this point all the past heroes and the players only know as much as companions and npcs have told us so being established is less fun to rp in a new cultural environment then a new one.

If Dragon age goes ME route id rather they start a trilogy with the new hero and the 1st 3 can be the southern trilogy

Well, there are plenty of countries up north, but i'm not sure if placing the game in Tevinter would be all that great an idea. I mean.. how could they possibly make an interesting game if the player simply wants to damage/destroy the vints empire and every single (noble) person they encounter regardless of the outcome?

(Just my personal theory at the moment) The four races you can choose from will be aligned with the Tevinter/Qunari struggle

Human: Tevinter. Either a soldier or a magister/magister-in-training

Elf: Tevinter slave, probably more inclined to the Qunari.

Dwarf: ??? Thought I read something about dwarves and Tevinter having close ties, so probably Tevinter leaning.

Qunari: Obviously Qunari, with Qunari leanings.

You'd probably be able to choose to side with whoever you want, but I think you'll eventually end up leading your own new-founded order, kingom, empire, etc.

I would play this. Then again, I always like my own ideas

In fairness, nothing really precludes the murder knife and other assorted flavors of meanness making a return for the same protagonist.

I agree with what role each race should play, and a qunari pc who is a follower of the qun initially would be rather interesting. But I'd prefer it if the Tevinter/Qunari conflict was a side plot rather than the main focus of the game.

With those origins I'd probably be playing an elf yet again. Darn it elves... can't get away from you, can I?

I'm betting we'll get at least two story DLCs for DAI with one which will probably result in the dissolution of the Inquisition, which I would greatly enjoy.

Taking DA to Tevinter would be a smart move in my book, it's a place that many fans are eager to see, and offers a load of story telling potential.

As for the story plot of DAI, i'd like those to be tied up in future DLC, rather than finish them in the next game (ala Hawke's Story, which I didn't mind, but I'd have prefered their story to be their story, rather than a sidestep from the Inquisitor's)

I think Hawke's story would have been 'finished' in either the cut Exalted March DLC or continued with him as protagonist in 'DA3'.

Since neither happened, we got something a bit more haphazard looking in DAI.

I hope we don't see something like this again. I'd like the Inquisitor's Story to be essentially (as far as we need to care) 'finished' in DAI DLC, but yes, we could optionally run into him in future games if that makes sense and if players wish.

Like how I'd like to see the Warden (major part of a DLC? Maybe Bioware's not into that, but I AM!) - compared to how we ended up seeing Hawke.

As much as I'd love to be able to take down both, it just doesn't seem like a realistic option. We'd have to play a character that wields more power than the Inquisitor to do this, and it could get a little ridiculous.

It depends, really. For example if they go into full scale war both sides will be a lot weaker and thus easier to take down.Or another example would be you change Tevinter and use it to take down the Qun. Both the Qun and the Tevinter Imperium as we know it is gone, but really you only had to take down one side and the leadership of the other.

Point being, I hope we can oppose both rather than "What eveil group do you want to work with? You must choose one." Even if we can't take them down, I would like to not have to be their ally and help them.

I'd kind of like to not tear down anything, actually.  I'd be happy with stopping the bad guy and taking the occasional shot at some social institution that I dislike without having it come crumbling down as a result.

I don't think either will be completely taken down, but I can see the option to drastically change their policies being an option so they are taken down in that sense. We were able to do that in all the previous games afterall so Bioware has no problems with our PCs changing governments.

They could always just kill off the Inquisition if they become to much of a problem to write around.

The Inquisition doesn't feel like a powerful army or comparable to any of the nation states in thedas. I think that's a silly statement.
