Under all the garbage in this thread, there is probably a good point that I don't think should be ignored. The right of the creator to put what they want in games without being shamed, or having X in a game to represent the developer's views or their audience's views IRL.

I am really uncomfortable with Anita-style Critical Theory that posits that context and authorial intent are unimportant when making a point. When you ignore authorial intent and context, you interpret what you see as what you want to see. It's an exercise in confirmation bias.

Example: Hitman is a sexist game because the game's sandbox nature implicitly encourages killing and "acting on the body" showgirls. The context is that the showgirls appear in one section of one level out of more than a dozen levels. And the authorial intent is the fact you lose points for engaging the women in a hostile way. Yet that counts for nothing.

At best, it's flawed analysis. At worst, it's used as a cudgel to reinforce some bizarre form of political correctness that's built on a call out culture of shaming people you don't like.

Unfortunately that's the *only* method of analysis that SJWs use. And since the media has built an industry around catering to it (rage inducing clickbait) and harnessing it, they feel like they're given a blank cheque to be horrible people because they're the "good guys" (feminists). Why? Because they will never get called out on it by mainstream media.

A cursory glance at Gawker's history will say as much. Jezebel talking proudly about female on male spousal abuse, Gawker crashing Coke's marketing campaigns with Mein Kampf quoting twitter bots and then claiming that it's okay because Coke is a corporation. Etc etc.

Hell, look at Shirtstorm and the absolutely disgusting torrent of abuse Matt Taylor received from SJWs and their media enablers. Jesus Christ, I would never want that kind of crap to be the norm in the gaming industry.

But it's perhaps a little closer than we think.

Why would I say this? Because the journalist who wrote the article that started the entire fiasco is Chris Plante, cofounder of Polygon.

Actually, yes, they can be judged, there's no right there. Anything artistic can be judged. The developers and creators are free to do what they want, but they are not free from critics and people can judge the content, whether it is legetimate or not.

I don't know what is gamergate, but for me it's difficult to find a forum worse than the bsn. I truly admit my ignorance about internet and tumblr though, and I'm not going to evolve lol.

I don't know what is gamergate, but for me it's difficult to find a forum worse than the bsn. I truly admit my ignorance about internet and tumblr though, and I'm not going to evolve lol.

If I wanted to make it a GG topic, I'd talk about how SJWs turned on Brianna Wu of all people because she had coffee and a friendly meeting with "sexist rapist monster" Brad Wardell.
