there was a patch yesterday by origin and when i started to play i found that my archer tempest is completly useless because the flask of fire dosent permitt anymore to performe thousands cuts without loosing the focus .

the chance to perform thousands cuts every time i use the flask of fire (yhat i remember has a very long cooltime) was the only reason i picked up this class for my playtrough and now just when the hard final part of the game is starting (lv 19 ) i have an archer doing so few dmg compared with other class.

An archer has very few strong damage abilities and till now was compensating this with the use of the flasks 

the point is thar i played 120 hours having in mind this build for my character and now i have the only chance to respec him  entirely and try a rough with dagger even if i already built sera in this way

why the developers dont tell you the content of a patch so to let you decide to install it or not ?

what you think ?

I absolutely hate archers so I have no idea of how they are useful or not but...

In a single player game if something favors the player there is no point in "fixing" it.
Like in Awakening the Heraldry with +20 (or +30, I'm not sure, I do never go S&S) to all stats
Maybe a bug, or wrong, but favors people
AT LEAST they should boost other stuff to make the character be as fun to play as it was, or somehow close
Again, this is single player, no point in balacing things at all...
Like removing elfroot-levelling in Origins, it would be sad
I always go Lothering -> Circle of Magi (stat boost from fade) -> Nature of the Beast -> Lvl 18 -> Do all DLC (except Orzammar part of Shale quest) stuff to get tier 7 gear
In fact if I played archer I would probably solve it with cheating but console gamers aren't that lucky as far as I know so "bugs" like this are not priority IMO
Anyway, that's what you get for going archer ugh *dreams of an RPG where all classes are melee damage dealers*

by the way Psychevore and PillarBiter  are you playng as an archer ?

if yes explain to me  how to put a tempest archer at the same level of other classes from now on 

if not dont complain.

Uh its a bug. You knew it was a bug. Its your own fault for playing with exploits.

 

By your own logic, they may as well make every class buggy and overpowered. No point in balance.

Archers don't do any damage?  Really?  I have seen Full Draw do 2K-3K.  Long Shot do upwards of 6K.  And Leaping Shot is absolutly insane...talk about Dragon mincemeat.

 abyss is not a bug at all if you read what it says about the flask of blood  = "for a short period of time your abilities dont use vigor and they dont need recharge

Precisely. Except they already are. From DAO to DAI. Some classes are just better at being godlike than others, but balance never existed if you knew how to play it right. Spirit Warrior Archer in Awakening for instance. Just insane.

All the patch did was take away your "I WIN" button so you cannot destroy bosses under 10 secs.  As Al Foley mentioned you still have some of the most damaging skills in the game, that you can still spam and abuse under the influence of Fire Flask.

Learn to adapt. I have an archer and have had no issues adjusting.   Stop being lazy. It was an exploit that you exploited.

Ehh... archers are by no means useless.

 

Hard to empathize with you, yeah I guess it sucks they took that bug (although I never even tried it myself) but this game is easy enough to not be like "gg time to delete my archer"

 

A more reasonable reaction is to ask why the hell are they fixing exploits and leaving the actual bugs that hinder the game experience?

Pretty sure this was only possible on PC, I tried this with Sera awhile ago a it didn't work

Question though, how is that fun in any way? Just rushing in and using Thousand Cut to wipe everything seems pretty boring to me

I'm not serious about it, I know there are people with different tastes. I just don't get them =P

Personally I prefer swift strikes that kill enemies efficiently, but I do love being on the front line of the group myself. I go for Vanguards, especially in ME3, for this reason.

Go bring Cole with Mark of Death and combine it with thousand cuts. You will still be overpowered. At level 19, you will be very powerful regardless.

You abused the IWIN button too much and don't know how to play the spec all that well. What do you expect?

Practice and get better gear. Read a guide on tempest archers (there are lots around the internet).

My second playthrough was with a tempest on hard and I don't recall EVER using the exploit (except once to test it for lolz). Long shot spam under the effects of flask of fire are ridiculous. That's not to mention flask of lightning which pretty much removes the delay on your full draw and allows you to safely use leaping shot. Plus there's flask of frost that you can use to turn yourself into a tank (1) and allow for EASY combo triggers (2).

I beat Nightmare with a Tempest Archer and I NEVER had to use the Thousand Cuts exploit.

Personally, I thought that the exploit was an abuse that should have been rectified long ago, though I wish the devs would fix game-breaking bugs and the skills that don't work at all first.

Even without the Flask of Fire bug, the Assassin spec makes for an excellent sniper since Full Draw from Stealth can crit for 10-20k and Long Shot can crit for 5-10k.

The often overlooked Artificer comes with Opportunity Knocks so with the right party can have almost nonexistent cooldowns...or spam Leaping Shot and Mines.
You get the second best focus ability after Thousand Cuts too.

Even used as intended, Tempest is still pretty powerful it's just not cheesy.
