I am in Redcliff and trying to figure out what happens if you let the Tower handle Connar?

They allude to "not wanting to wait too long" but is something actually going to happen or not?  I don't want to wait, get back and find everybody dead.  The Tower takes a while to do all the quests from what I understand.

If anybody knows, please spoil me

it works, it just takes longer cause you have to complete the tower stuff first if you haven't already.
