Can anyone tell me what happens in DA:I if you don't recruit Leliana in Lothering?
Does she tell the Inquisitor what she did in Ferelden during the blight? Do you even get the war table mission to contact the Hero of Ferelden?

Huh. I honestly have no idea. Good question!
Is that even possible in the Keep?

I just checked, it does give you that option.
If I recall correctly, she says she was in Ferelden during the Blight and that the stuff about the Warden and their companions doesn't come up.
Thanks for answering everybody. ![]()
Hm, I'm still undecided, but I'm beginning to lean towards leaving her behind in Lothering (at least with my canon warden).
I did that, too in my very first DAO playthrough. I had no idea what I was doing, pretty much my first RPG experience, but I figured we were pretty much full up on crazy, and left her there. That was also before I knew you could romance companions, and suddenly, just before we burst in on Howe's dungeon, Alistair decides to tell me he has feelings for me...don't get me wrong, I was flattered, but dude needs to work on his timing lol

Well, he probably thought 'Now or never' *g*

You are breaking into a war veterans heavily guarded estate.
I'm aware of that. Maybe he thought your chances of survival were pretty slim and wanted to confess his feelings before they were all killed or executed.
(There is the occasional odd timing of dialogue in DA:O, I know, it happened to me too sometimes. And it felt out of place when it did. I was just making a joke with my comment to Freedheart.

I found it rather disconcerting to be handed a rose just before going into battle myself. LOL!

Leave Leliana behind? How could anyone say no to that accent?
It's possible to never even meet her... I managed to never get into that tavern on my first try
I had to load the game to recruit her.
I've left her behind a couple times. The thing i've never done is kill her. Only because I pre-plan my party members, so if Leliana IS in it, then it's because she fits and will be staying lol

I'd be giving up a couple of things I like having in my game: her song after the Brecilian Forest, her banter with Morrigan, Schmooples. But my canon warden (Dalish) is so heavily anti-Chantry, I don't see her agreeing to taking a chantry sister with them, even if Leliana says, she's more than that.
It was a dialogue in Inquisition that led to this line of thought: In Haven, when asked about the warden, Leliana said something along the lines "She's one of my dearest friends". That just doesn't fit my canon warden. They got along well enough for Lelianas personal quest to trigger, I gave her a few gifts (no chantry symbols, no shoes, just the flowers I think). I suppose it's triggered by the choice in Dragon Age Keep if you did her personal quest.
How does she remember the warden if her personal quest in DA:O wasn't completed or even triggered?
@ Dracon 525:
I've also never killed her, or any character for that matter. If I defile the ashes, then I'll get her to back down. Maybe one of the future wardens will kill Zevran though, in a playthrough where the approval is low enough so he sides with Taliesin.

In my first game of DA:O I kinda decided early on that my best course of action was probably not to take advice from Alistair on most matters
... being smitten with Morrigan already probably didn't help.
I imported a file where Leliana was never recruited by the Warden, and I don't think anything seemed out of order... at most, you will just miss out on a few dialogues, but she didn't seem to be acting strangely as a result of not helping end the Blight. She's still a super-spymaster and assassin regardless, etc...
Of course, I could never pass her by in the actual DA:O game, since I need somebody to open locked chests until I have access to Zevran... so it was nice to have this option in the Keep without actually having to play through it.

Thanks for posting. It's good to know that there won't be any glaring plotholes or dialogue errors in DA:I with a non recruited DA:O-Leliana. Did you get the war table mission where you look for the Hero of Ferelden? As I remember Leliana was the one to suggest is, so if she never traveled with the warden...?

Um... well, I actually stopped playing the game right after the Arbor Wilds, so if it was supposed to show up before that, then I can tell you that it didn't in my game. If it happens after the Arbor Wilds, then I have no idea, sorry. :S
Actually, do you know what triggers this mission? It's also possible that I simply didn't talk to her enough or choose whatever dialogue opens this up... if I had some idea of how the HoF mission is triggered, I could give you a better answer. Is there a different War Table mission that precedes it?

Then u get it from Morrigan or warden Allistar.

Good to know, thank you. My warden is with Zevran, but Alistair is Hawke's contact, so I'll be fine.
Thanks to everybody for posting what you know and experienced in your game! ![]()
