Given their list of nominees for Game of the Year (Bayonetta 2? Seriously?), I value their opinion not at all.
I don't think DAI was necessarily the best game of the year (it's possible I haven't played any other 2014 releases), but I can't approve of those nominations.

What's wrong with Bayonetta 2? It was one of the highest rated games of the year, being on the list kinda makes sense.

Bayonetta 2 was on a lot of GotY nominee lists, but being on a single unpopular format killed any chance of it actually winning anything. If it had been multiplatform, I would bet money that it would have scored a few wins.

It just seems like there's nothing to it, though I might be unfairly biased against action games.
The same can be said of Inquisition.. Bayonetta 2 is one of the most refined and deep action games around, with little to no bugs.

If you don't like beat 'em ups, you probably won't appreciate the appeal. By all accounts, Bayonetta 2 has spectacular graphics, smooth, precise controls, varied gameplay, oodles of style, and it runs perfectly at 60fps in 1080p. It's supposed to be an extremely polished, well made game. Just a shame it's stuck on a console no-one cares about.

It's not that unexpected to me: there's been multiple reviews both favorable and unfavorable towards Inquisition so it only makes sense it wouldn't make every "Game of the Year" or "Top Ten" list. Some were fond of it and some felt it deserved its awards, other were less fond of it and some did not feel it deserved its awards. It is how it is with a lot of games.

This. So much this. But yeah, this probably mostly has to do with my personal tastes.

I'd be more likely to give an award to Civ: Beyond Earth, but that's likely also my personal tastes.This. So much this. But yeah, this probably mostly has to do with my personal tastes.
