Missing loot bags?

I want to put a few loot items on the ground, short sword +1 and whatnot. I'm not concerned that they are all loot bags and don't look like the actual item, but when I try to place the items there is no "loot bag" under the cursor, and the item does not place on the ground. This includes stock game items such as generic books. The placeables.2da has appropriate (stock) entries for the loot placeables.

I have "show all" on in the toolset. In a test module, the loot bags appear. Any idea what might be causing this?

Do the placed loot bag objects show up in the Area Contents list?

I got the same problem. If you run the area, at least for me, the item is there on the ground. So I didn't mind that it doesn't show in the toolset.

Hi Kamal,

Is it just for the one area? ... i.e. Does it not show for all areas? Try a new area. (It may be a "ground" issue where the bag does not always show, especially if you are working on that "sky" area.)

And by the way, personally, I find it is not "good practice" to place items directly into a module onto the ground. It is better to place them into containers of some kind. Especially, if you use area tidying scripts that clean up abandoned items, etc. Have you considered using "item placeables" for such loot items?

Cheers,
Lance.

@lance: it's all areas of the module in question, including stock game tile interiors so it's not a peculiarity of flying exteriors. I do agree it is better to use item placeables with scripts to give the item, but I want to find the cause for reference since while it may be "better" to add that extra touch, it's not always what the builder wants.

@rjshae: it doesnt seem to leave a toolset selectable object on the ground. I did not load the area or run through the area objects, will have to try that when I am home.

This is the same behavior I am experiencing. It does not matter which area of the module I am in, so it is a module wide issue.

Testing by removing 2das, I've isolated it to the placeables.2da. Isolated it by comparing to soz placeables.2da. Lines 13-18 of the soz placeables .2da are for loot bags. These lines are empty in in the placeables 2da I had. Copied over these lines from the SoZ 2da to mine, and the loot bag is visible. Problem solved.
