Which version of the Normady is your favorite, and what kind of ships from outside ME do you think would be cool to inspire new ME ships?

I prefer a darker more lived-in atmosphere on the ship than a sterile brightly lit one. Also the vibe on ME3's SR2 kind of reminded of the interior of submarine, which I liked. I'm not sure if that was Bioware's inspiration though.

I even liked the cables, though I know I'm in the minority on that one.

Yeah I thought the atmosphere of the ME3 SR2 was the best of the lot. As much as some may dislike the security checkpoint that disguises the loading time between the rest of the deck to the War Room, I even enjoyed the two soldiers that occasionally have banter with one another.

As for the cables, I can take or leave them. The fact that it's clearly meant to be a consequence of not being able to properly finish the retrofits helps, though part of me wishes that the Citadel DLC corrected this somehow.

One thing I really hope for in the next ship is that there are proper accommodations for every member of the crew. As it was, some of the crew didn't seem like they really belonged anywhere, and in ME2, characters just spill over into random parts of the ship where I don't really feel they should be, like Kasumi and Samara in observation lounges and so forth, and then Garrus and Tali just living in the forward battery and engineering respectively.

Zaeed sleeping next to the space rubbish disposal. I felt a bit sorry for the guy, freaky crim with a messed up face, living downstairs next to the bins.

I liked Zaeed's place. I always ejected the compacted trash cubes into space as he talked to me about stuff.

Good God! Don't you realize that Isaac Newton is the most dangerous SOB in space?!

I liked the SR1 more due to how efficient is in terms of space and reaching who/what you need. The SR2 cerberus was the worst of the three in my opinion in this regard. However i really like how the ship was light and clean inside and would love to be so also on the new ship. The ME3 normandy was an unifinished mess. Didn't particularly like it. However i hope for smaller ships for the next game. I don't want a huge warship....too much running around. Also i hope BW retains its own ME feels from designing ships and avoid too much influence from other tv series.

Though I'm still very fond of the original Normandy (I actually felt like I was on a real spaceship, a quality that the sequels lacked somehow), I like ME3's iteration the best. It felt very lived in, and wasn't as sterile white as in ME2.

Honestly I think at this moment it would be best for everybody that they let to Bioware to make one great Star Trek game series (maybe some triology) in the style of Mass Effect.
Some action with elements of RPG , where we could make our own choices , where we would have a ship battles in space , exploring, diplomacy , developing of technology and everything what makes the Star Trek universe.

Can U imagine , i think it would not be nothing so epic like exciting and intresting missions on Vulcan, Qo Nos, Andoria, Romulus, Archania IV , Bajor, Cardasia Prime ,Deep Space 9, Earth of course and any other well known locations from Star Trek. (and maybe not just the worlds from Alpha Quadrant)

Also playing in the role of Maquis would be so epic experience too.

something that ran off dark energy via dark matter... literally. Gravity is the cheapest fuel known in/on deep space...

In fact, I don't like Normandy's appearance at all (both SR1 and SR2). It doesn't look like a millitary spaceship.

And here is what I believe are some of the best examples of what millitary spaceships should look like:

I like that the SR1 felt like a real ship, with stairwells and seamless elevators and the airlock.  But the Cerberus SR2 just felt so comfortable.

Even though the first time I played ME3 I thought "the alliance has ruined my ship!" I appreciated the design choice because it definitely highlighted the difference between the utilitarian military feel rather than the money-is-no-object lavishness of the Cerberus ship.  A solid design choice.  I also liked James making fun of Cerberus for not having the weapons locker near the shuttles.  It was a good touch.

I still liked the Cerbreus ship more, though.

Yeah had the same reaction.

Also in MEU before the thanix cannons ships required to be built with their main gun basically mounted in the middle. It restricts quite a few things.

Not to sound like a jerk but I would really prefer people not to give ideas to how ME ships should be by posting ships from other tv-shows or games. I would like the design to feel unique and fresh, very much ME style.

Personally I love turian designs of ships they feel smooth, agile and yet powerful. I'm kind of against brutal and massive warships not meant for exploration but conquest. Seeing how the new Mako is done I think BW is going for a smooth and aesthetically pleasing design which is very much in line with my expectations. I was never a fan of big ugly ships or techs, pretty much Warhammer style (the most horrid designs I've ever seen IMO).

IMO what describe tech advancement is size reduction, functionality and less weight. I hope for fast and agile ship as well as less bulky armors or weapons. Also I hope they keep their ME aesthetics and don't try to copy other popular sci-fi series.

SR stands for Stealth Recon(at least it does on the SR-71). I do not think the Normandy SR-2 deserves that since it was so big hiding it from visual detection would be problematic. Also the stealth drive should, from how I understand it, work on any ship but just not as effectively. From ME2 on they turned the Normandy into a warship with stealth capabilities, whereas it predecesor was a Recon ship with a cutting edge stealth system and light combat capabilities so it wouldn't be completely defenseless when on a mission so it could hopefully either eliminate or run from a ship(s) that detected it.

The Normandy's size is irrelevant as far as its stealth capabilities are concerned. The ship is only roughly twice the size of the SR-1, and as Adams explains in ME1, getting a visual in space is considerably difficult, and most ships use their sensors rather than relying on eyeballing targets through the windows. The SR-2 has a more advanced stealth system.

An explanation that never made sense to me. So if the sensors are taken out or are malfunctioning/jammed this universes military ships become helpless drifting targets because the military higher-ups thought teaching their soldiers how to keep themselves and the who-knows-how-expensive piece of military hardware safe and intact was important. In no reality does that fit any logical line of thinking.

Edit: On further reflection it does make sense if it falls under one or both of these conditions. 1-Ship is black(most in ME aren't). 2-Ship is a fighter dropship gunship or other small short range ship.
