Hey guys I just wanted some feedback.

About to start my 4th Playthrough and I haven't really done a warrior yet. I started one but never really got far.

I was looking through the specializations and my impressions are as follows

- Templar -

Pretty niche in what they can do and overall the worst of the 3 choices

- Champion -

If played correctly you are virtually unkillable in most situations, but you lack damage.

- Reaver -

Can do alot of damage, but doesn't have the endurance of the Champion.

But that is just my impression from the feedback I have read and breakdowns I have seen. So please correct me if I am wrong.

My question is whether or not it is feasible to go with a Two Handed Champion build to combine unreal survival and a okay amount of damage?

Well... it worked when I tried it with Blackwall, although he was pretty weak until he got his specialization.  Also, he was unable to use a Focus power since the one for Champion required Weapon and Shield.  I say go for it... at the very least it should be a fresh and interesting experience.

That was the other thing I thought of.

It would definitely feel different which in itself could be a good thing

Plus, you can always compensate for any weaknesses in the build with crafted gear... and you'll still have 3 other party members backing you up, so the Inquisitor doesn't have to be dealing the most damage at all times.

Probably not any use to you, but my 2H warrior destroyed everything on nightmare, and he had no points in any "advanced" spec, why is not important, so yeah 2H champion can be very viable an destroy at same time.

Nice build but it takes a while to accumulate skill points / gear to really make it work

Don't be so quick to write off Templar - Wrath of Heaven followed by Spell Purge is a self-detonating combo that trivializes most non-boss fights, and it doesn't need great gear to be effective.

Ok, 2 things.

2H Templar:

First, the templar was a real surprise playthrough for me.  2H Templar is ridiculously beastly for damage.  The wrath/purge stun works on a lot more things than I expected.  And with the 2H I pretty much would one-shot entire groups all through the last half of the game.  My companions would run up...and then stop because everything was dead.  The trick with 2H templar is to focus on damage and keep Viv in your group (see KineticGTR's support KE build).  She revives you fast if you die...and you want to die as a templar.  It gives a boost to your team (+100% health and +50% damage).  Insane damage and fun playthrough.  Really surprised me.  Oh, and drop blessed blades (it's total crap and the only "niche" skill IMO).  Two really great utility abilities on a Templar.  You can remove magic around you, like electric circles from dragons, or fire/ice mines from other mages, or any barrier.  Also your focus ability is pure clutch in that it can save your whole damn party should things go badly (kind of like the KE focus ability).  Really great abilities, lots of fun, pure pwnage in damage.  I was very surprised.

Move 1:  wrath, purge, pickup loot

Move 2:  (for stun-immune mobs).  Mighty Blow, Pommel Strike, Earthshaking Strike (dragons are dumb and stand in the fire, plus works as a ranged attack on things like Arcane Horrors that like to teleport on you, or wraiths that pop up barriers).

2H champion:
This is a very effective play style.  I did not find it as fun as the 2H Templar because it's really a 2-trick pony.  You have 2 movies and neither are very flashy.  Move 1:  Warcry -> Walking Fortress -> Whirlwind.  It's very effective, especially if you couple it with a static cage = frost mine.  Move 2:  To the death with en garde (I.E. the boss killer).  if you can stay in range of a target long enough, you see some really big numbers.  But that's it.  High survivability + 2H.

Both playthroughs i focused on the same things at end-game.  I wore superior prowler armor, used ornate battleaxe, and stacked crit chance and dexterity.  Short cooldowns and mega-hard hitting crits.

Two handed champion is the most enjoyable combination to play of those I've tried. Charging into the middle of a group of enemies, spinning around madly while being completely untouchable is an absolute joy :D
