Curious if anyone could give me some suggestions on this.
On Mass Effect 2 on X-Box 360, I'm getting an odd static-sounding whisper doubling on voices during cutscenes or conversation. It doesn't occur on any other sounds, nor does it occur on voices not part of a cutscene/conversation (environmental voices are fine).
I've changed amongst various sound modes and sound fields, but am still getting it. Switching to straight stereo doesn't seem to help either.
I can confirm that it is only happening in ME2. Doesn't happen in any other game.
Is anyone else hearing this? It's not a huge deal (I'm not going to bother tech support as they clearly have bigger problems right now), but it does get a bit annoying after a while.

Ok, I'll take that as a no.

You're not talking about the drug-hazed cut scene after you're resurrected or the detail that when you get zapped in combat, sound drops out like in Modern Warfare when you get flash-banged? I haven't experienced any problems with audio running via HDMI into a Samsung 5.1 surround system.

Nope. I had a few suggestions offline about altering some the XBOX 360 sound settings to try to isolate the problem, so going to check that later tonight. Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure why it worked, but the following resolved it:
1) Go into XBOX 360 System Settings
2) Change Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Digital 5.1 w/ WMA to Stereo
3) Exit
4) Go back into XBOX 360 System Settings
5) Change back to Dolby Digital 5.1 or 5.1 w/ WMA.

I had a similar issue...sort of. The sound just drops out completely, as mentioned by DirkBelig...but not during combat--in cutscenes. The entire end scene in the Samara trust mission was ruined because the audio cut out and I couldn't tell what the heck they were saying.

I haven't noticed any sound issues except for a dialog volume change when talking to Katy. I have my xbox set to stereo since it isn't hooked up to a sound system.

DreamersImperial,
I experienced a bit of that too. That's when I began to think that my sound system was on the fritz.
It stopped after I did the above. May not be related to your issue though.

You're not the only one! This has happened to me, too. I'm currently re-installing everything. The character's voices now sound like they are speaking through a jar or something. REALLY annoying, as it is was fine until I got sick of the stupid sign in error everything time I get disconnectd from X-Box Live...and being forced to to restart. Tried loading a game disconnected...and then this happened. Ugh... I'll try what you did...and pray.

It didn't work... Please help me, Bioware! This ruins the game for me. If it was like that from the start, I wouldn't know the difference, but it wasn't. It's very noticable.

i mainly have problem with the squads' voices during combat. whenever i press the LT, their voices would be slowed down and pitch lowered, like the sound effect when you slow down the speed of an analog media (tape or vinyl). very annoying for instance, miranda's voice becomes "grunt's".
