So I have been thinking about getting Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm lately... is it worth it? Anyone played it? mostly for the story and when I get bored

my cousin already has it. It's a totally different game and I would rather stick with World War 2 simulators but thanks for the recommendation

There should be a free-to-play Starter Edition version for you to try out.

I'd say go for it. It's a fantastic game. However I should mention that I've had tons of problems with it. I installed the game, beat it, then tried playing it again after a couple months and it wouldn't let me play because it said I had the starter edition. Called customer support, they fixed it for me, beat it again. Then a while after I tried playing it again, and yes...it told me I have the starter edition again. My experience isn't typical I'm sure. It really is an amazing game, but thought I should mention that.

No, absolutely not. Only get it if you're interested in the multiplayer. I've played Capcom games with better stories than StarCraft II. The missions are centered around plot devices that Blizzard has already beaten to death in StarCraft I and WarCraft III, the dialogue is trite, and the returning characters are all one dimensional caricatures of their StarCraft I selves. The gameplay in the storymode isn't bad. But seriously, the dialogue. Dehaka can go straight to hell.

The story is pretty disappointing.

multiplayer that sounds fun until I get beaten up or raped by zurgs xD well from the trailers and cinematic I think Blizzard did an awesome job. I'll see when it goes on sale.

The story is relatively bad (especially Wings of Liberty), but the gameplay is fantastic. There's tons of variety in the missions.

Some of the dialogue really is embarrassing, but I think the general storytelling did improve in HotS.

The second expansion will be releasing later this year (hopefully), so you may choose to wait and see if Blizzard eventually does a battle chest release that bundles all of them together (though who knows how long that would take).

Regardless, I definitely think they're both worth playing.

How is that Saitek X55? Looks a lot fancier than my X52 Pro. Also what keyboard and headset?

Elite:Dangerous is coming to the Xbox One, in case you didn't know.

Currently scheduled for this year.

Played both, finished HOTS. Zerg game style just seems to connect with me, somehow. Good games. Story is nothing special, but has good production values, and the missions are varied well.

A bit of a pain to install, though. I recall having to download like 20 patches just to play WOL, and installing HOTS wasn't entirely smooth either. I'm also still a bit bitter over the hoops I had to jump through just remove my authenticator.

Other than that, good games.

I really enjoyed both, even if the games no longer work for me in terms of multiplayer. Getting good at the ladder would require more practice and thought than I am willing to put into a game. The campaigns were great though, achievements and things like that provided nice amount of replay value for me. Though I'd play the game just to enjoy the work of Blizzard's amazing cinematic department.

Yeah I'd say get it. They story isn't great (Even though I kinda liked HoS's campaign.) but it's the gameplay that makes it worth it. Play both campaigns and a few bot games before you hop into multiplayer. Just so you can memorize your hot keys and learn about your units. Once you jump into MP it'll put you where you need to be, so you won't get wasted every match and you can improve from there.

I'd say go for it.

story is not good and the competitive part of the game has no future. Blizzard have all but given up on the genre, and all hte other strategy devs would prefer scooping up the pennies overflowing off of the dota and civilization money pits
