I don't see the point of the storage chest

There's stuff I won't use because I have better equipment but don't want to give up due to roleplaying reasons. Elven stuff mostly.

Mnay times you loot gear that you won't be able to use for several levels. Especially if you don't have the perks for incrased inventory, the nice gear you can't use yet takes up space and, you end up having to return to base or a merchant, or destroy items just to loot yet another piece of gear. Destroying even valuables means trashing something that could get you a bit of gold.
Most people don't like having to do that. Now we don't have to decide between collecting loot we want to sell or keeping the nice gear for the next 3-4 levels until we can use it - we can store the gear and, collect the loot to sell too.
Later it's also nice if you craft multiple runes at once, especially Master or Superb runes and, want to save them until the character you made them for levels up a bit more, or gets a new weapon.
It's good for upgrades you get that you want to save for the next set of armor, and for any special items you don't want to use but, don't want to sell either.

Sometimes you find "valuables" that you think serve no purpose but are actually useful for some quest or another down the line... so it's nice to be able to hold onto such things without straining your backpack.
Having access to a variety of high-level crafted weapons and armors with different effects could also come in handy as a means of keeping the combat fresh... but you can't do that if you have to carry all that stuff around with you.

Well, inventory does have a limit. Sometimes you get items that cannot be used (such as having too low level) or not suitable for a particular fight but are still useful in the future. Rather than selling those items away or keeping them in your inventory, you can just store them.

I wanna horde my first crafted Armor and Weapon so that in 50 years when im old gray and crappy my pants, surrounded by my grand kids i can show them the games we used to play back in 2015.

Well, good thing you never have to use it I guess.
I love it, I can now hoard to my hearts content. All those purple items, some of the blue ones like the snake blade, and probably a lot of other things that are useless but I will still keep

Some people are OCD about loot, I guess. Plus, it was in previous games but it wasn't in this one, so that was enough for some people, and it was also another thing to complain about.

I am NOT going to sell that Wedge of Destiny, or the banana mace, or the spoon maul, or the urn shield, not matter HOW terrible their stats are. IN THE CHEST THEY GOOOO
Also good for kit you're underlevelled for.

the storage can be used for roleplay purposes as well.
till now i didn't care about crafting because my inventory was full of weapons and armor...
with the possibility to dye armor and to storage armor .. i can now make different clothes for different roleplay purposes.
as example a noble armor i would wear only in val royeux....a rural clothe i would wear in the emerald graves... and so on.
i can now craft many different clothe for many different purposes .. for each companion too.

Its for hoarders and looters like myself who feel the absurd need to collect and maintain a wide variety of seemingly meaningless mementos to occasionally look at and say
"Damn I remember when I got that. That was a hell of a fight/quest/moment."
Some of us are sentimental about the milestones we reach or get rather attached to weapons or pieces of gear that we used for a long time because they were so damn good. If its the first thing we ever crafted or the first weapon we ever got we sometimes like to keep it to give perspective or simply add a bit of internal backstory to our character.
If I use a weapon for so long that when I finally get something better I almost don't want to get rid of it I like to save it.
It carried me through so many tough fights and tough quests that the least I can do is give it a nice place to rest after its done its job.
Like a blanket that you have had since you were a kid. Its outgrown its use, but you can't seem to bring yourself to let it go.
TL;DR
Some people are crazy just like I am.

To be fair Bianca is almost as big as he is.
Hence why we needed to be provided an actual chest and not a simple footlocker.
We couldn't fit both into a footlocker

Yep, this is definitely a BioWare game...

Some of us are hoarders who don't want to sell excess stuff in case we need it later.

Haha, I usually edit my inventory limit to 300 or 400, and still find it's not quite enough. I'm more worried the storage chest is too small for my needs.

Half my **** I can't even use yet because of levels or I do not have a companion yet that that item would go with.
I have SEVERAL accessories like those rings that increase ability damage/duration that I can't use (probably 15+) because I do not have those abilities unlocked yet.

For some reason, I like keeping unique weapons even if they're terrible. Now I can keep them in the chest.
