Because of limited inventory space and the fact that "Manage your advanced rings of -Blank-" isn't a fun game. Plus, what the hell is the point of leaving it out, when it a feature that was present, necessary and useful in the prior two games in the series?

Those things would build up in my intentory and I'd have to spend a bunch of time switching out characters, looking at their skill sets, and deciding which rings to equip on them and which ones to pitch. Sure, I could just sell them all and ignore the 30% boosts (god knows you don't need to min/max for difficulty reasons), but why not just put them all in a storage chest, take them out when I need them, and store nice looking unique weapons and lore items to boot?

There are 1000 slots in that storage chest. Each slot will be filled with one sword that I loot from my enemies. When all 1000 slots are filled, I will summon my dragon to melt them all down into a throne fit for a conqueror.

That or I'll use it to store runes. Probably runes.

Don't like it? Don't use it, and enjoy the casual gamers' life.

when you go after dragons, it is nice if your mage(s) have the correct type of staff, and your warriors have the correct type of rune in a weapon.

You can also create specialized armor that is resistant to different things (ice.fire. electricity, spirit)

I suspect a troll though

I either sell or equip stuff, so what is the point of the chest? Am I not understanding something?

The point is no more complex than that some people like to keep stuff and there's somewhere to keep it.

I'm happy for those people.

I'm unlikely to get much use out of it myself but it was a much requested feature and BioWare put it in, good for them.

We have a chest because people complained about not having a chest.

Though, imo, chesty is the best chest.

There's a chest. You put stuff in it. Maybe it bothers you because they placed it on the spot everybody used to jump off?

I have gear I'm not high enough level to use, and I have many rings for abilities I don't have yet but would like to try later.

I also have many, many valuables that I am saving because despite the ways the UI suggests it is a "sellable junk" tab, most of them are used for something.

Chests are cool, you can put shiny and magical things in them, you can even fill it with Nugs if you want, or you can hide in it, unless you are Qunari. So yes chest are awesome and should be everywere! :wizard: :wizard:

Not spending ten minutes per hour sorting through every item to check what's to keep and what's to sell is a welcome thing.

DAI Inventory UI gives me ME1 flashbacks, PTSD ones.

The storage chest is for players that want to keep their weapons and gear if you don't see any use for it then don't use it. The chest was put in the game for players that wanted it.

1) Because I want place to store all my upgrades I currently do not use, but may use later

2) Because I want place to store items that are over my level instead of taking my inventory space

3) Because I want place to store all those ability rings I can not use now, due to not having specific ability yet

4) etc, etc...

I actually mentioned this during the beta. I do see the use for a chest but the use is minimal.  I think the reason the chest seems useless compared to DAO is because you can carry almost every thing with no issue.  If they put a limit on all things picked up by the PC then the chest would be far more useful. I would store all crafting supplies et al.

It's in Skyhold where Undercroft is ( where Dagna and Blacksmith are ), it's off to the side when you enter it.

So you can be like my wife and hoard stuff that you are not ever to likely use ... just because.

If you are fighting a dragon you want armor that is resistant to their type of damage and weapons that do not use elements they are immune to and contain a dragon slaying rune.

That could be 4 or 5 armor and weapon sets just for dragon slaying.

Then you come to fighting high end demons, high end Red Templars or Dark Spawn.

If you want to be a proficient monster slayer in Thedas one set of armor and weapons just will not do.
