Does traits from other skill tree work with a different weapon than it intends?

Hi, does anyone know if traits from a different skill tree work with a different weapon that is not from that skill tree? For example "Flow of Battle" that is from the two handed skill tree, but what if I'm using a sword & shield, does the trait still work? Or would I have to have a two handed weapon for the trait to work, it reduces cool down by 1 second with every critical hit, so I'm wondering if it would still work for a sword & shield instead of having a two handed weapon as the skill tree intended. I'm just asking out of curiosity and would be interesting to know if anyone has tested and confirmed if this kind of thing would work.

Several passive abilities work with different weapons so it's quite possible. Some do not however, so I'd recommend testing it to make sure.

Yes

if you are dual dagger rogue

taking first blood and pincushion work

if you are an archer

sneak attack and dance of death work for you

flow of battle / shield breaker / guard smasher / clear a path [while a bit bit tricky to hit multi enemies with a one hander] will all proc/work on a SnS warrior

all sns passives work a two handed warrior

yes including turn the bolt/blade

Thanks for more details :)

Well, I have decided to try two handed, but I'm not sure if I like it, the attacks are pretty slow. The damage is nice, but the speed is a bit annoying to get used to. I played as a Reaver on my first warrior playthrough,  but I'm a Templar this time and I did not expect the skills from the Templar tree to be so...limited, to enemies anyways. So what do you guys go for, for a Templar? I think I like other classes better because warriors are so easily knocked down by a big/strong enemy like a dragon or a Templar with a shield. It gets pretty annoying if I spend half of the time trying to get up.

I do like how a Templar Armor + a 2H Sword look like however, I just think it really fits a Templar class appearance wise.

Templar's can trigger their own cross-class combos.  Wrath of Heaven is an AOE stun on a 24 second cooldown.  Use Wrath of Heaven on a group, then use Spell Purge.  It does Stun + Eldritch Detonator = Rupture -> 1200% Spirit damage and Weakness. This can make fights against stunnable enemies very short. Combat Roll from the battlemaster tree can help with the knockdown issues. Additionally I recommend Walking Fortress on hit as a masterwork material.

Fade-Touched Everite or Fade-Touched Dawnstone or Fade-Touched Paragon's Luster can all provide that.
