This is BSN. People throw fits when they use a male for their trailers. Everything ends up as a equality issue on these forums and it gets annoying.
Oh come now, this place aint got nothing on tumblr.

BW canon follows a more Renegade-style Shepard, so that may or may not fit.
Because Renegade Shep is the best Shep.
i can never have too many females in muh game.
I bet the Inquisitor's mother was a female too.

Difference here is it seems like they set up default Shep to just get from point A to point B as quick as possible. They at least try to flesh the Keep out with more recruitments and many sidequests.

You know, this is kind of a big deal.
If anyone mentions the Inquisitor in the next games, she'll be referred to as female just like the hero of Ferelden.
It's real canon.
I don't recall that. It's vague in the novels, and as far as the games go, the Warden is just referred to whatever your import was.

Doh.
We need a sarcasm emoticon.

I have no import game and Leliana referred to her as female when asked during dialogue.

Oh, so you weren't sarcastic.
Yeah, naturally... that's just default though.
As far as new players go, yeah, this would matter.
There is no such thing as canon when concerning the Warden. Canon is, more of less, universally accepted going of events. Most people don't care about default unless it's the default character they're playing when they pop the disk in. I doubt the Warden is even on their minds. The only people who care, long time fans, wouldn't care about what the default is anyway.
The canon Inquisitor is a male Qunari who romanced Cassandra.
Remember how Alistair was King in the comics, and everyone ranted and raved about how that must be what BioWare REALLY intended and blah blah blah my choooiiceeessss.
And then DAI comes along and gives Warden Alistair 62728x more content than King Alistair and people were like "...oh. Maybe not, then."
No. Canon means universally accepted, and in this case, that means what the author says should happen. BioWare has started there is no canon on Dragon Age concerning the Warden several times. Thus all Wardens are valid as any other. Default and canon don't mean the same thing.

Spoiler
lol.. I can't wait till the next game comes out. So you can finally make another joke.
I support Tevinter just for this. ![]()
"Accepted in the story" / "What the author says".
As far as the definition of canon goes, you didn't do much beyond putting what I'd said into other words.
The story naturally is written by none other than the author.
Five seconds on Google: "a general law, rule, principle, or criterion by which something is judged" Now I can also go get the definition of "General" but I think you get the point. That which is most universally accepted is that which must always happen, at least in this story, because the author established it as such. Meredith dying is canon. The OGB is not. Simple. There is no canon Warden, and BioWare's Warden is not "more canon," which isn't a thing.

My canon is female mage human, so I am doing the story wrong, because I like the fact my mage gave my characters people a chance to make life better for them in the long run. I am suppose to kill Hawke in the fade to make the story make sense, along with saving Celene. This is why I despise story plotlines that defurge from a default storyline. Because you have to do certain choices for them to make sense. She saved Celene but killed a bunch of people at the party
but Braila is exiled with Gaspard alive to make sure she keeps her promise to us. She also saved Areila Hawke whom did romanced Fenris, which I hated that she left for the Warden stronghold afterwards. Since I had to find reasons she would endanger her unborn child inside her to go to the stronghold, after, I left stroud in the fade.
Although, my inqusitior romanced Cullen because it fit her personality, and the fact her former lover was a Templar in Ostwick.
He was killed in the uprising protecting her and a group of Mages with her from other templars after they disbanded. That's my default world and I am sticking to it.
Love the story. Male mage here... never got far with the former Templar crush though ![]()
She died too, but at the conclave.
