I have never cared what BioWare's default is for anything, and I still don't.
I don't think anyone really does. I don't think many pay for a Bioware RPG to play as a set protagonist.

Mage is my favorite to roll in DA2. I tend to always play a female Hawke because I can't ever design the male Hawke the right way in CC. He just never looks right - otherwise I'd roll him ALL the time!
So in DAO which elf was default? The Dalish or the mage?
It's supposed to be the Dalish female one, since finding the mirror kind of set things in motion it seems.
Yes! Mike Hawke is Cannon! (In more ways than one)
I'm flattered that Bioware think so HIGHLY of Mike Hawke. Once you get hands on experience, you just can't put him away ![]()
BIOWARE LOVES MIKE HAWKE!
The default Inquisitor is female? Bioware is SEXIST, they need to check their privilege, this has triggered me, etc.

Someone ninja'd you already; even made a Females Everywhere! reference.

TRIGGER WARNING: POST CONTAINS MIKE HAWKE
I'm more surprised they don't have a trigger warning for Mike Hawke TBH
I mean he's pretty intimidating up close (Not that he isn't visible form afar as he most certainly is! The largest man in Thedas FYI
) but he can go off on a moments notice... DO NOT APPROACH HIM FROM BEHIND! If you scare him God knows what could happen to you.

DAMN. Which page is it?

I don't know, but I have that thread preserved in all its wondrous glory in my sig.
the wider fan community seems to have accepted the dalish elf as biowares cannon. Meh, its fine I think. No, it's just the default in the keep. If you load up DA2, the default history is indeed, a male warden. You can choose a dalish pre-built hero, but it's not the 'default'. They changed it in the keep at some point, likely because they felt a male Hawke fit the storyline better and wanted at least the illusion of balance.
it will be male, to follow the pattern.Everyone knows the default Inquisitor for DA4 will be a male dwarf mage. I guarantee it.
and DA4 protagonist will be male, and I will book mark this page and in 4 years come back and say'told u so'.So is the default Warden.

And it will be a dwarf mage. It is inevitable.

Well, if it's Tevinter, you never know. All of those dwarves could be freaks.
Would prefer an elf or better Vashoth Qunari next time.

No...I got this. We just need a willing tongue and a few hours and a a few tentacle monsters and we can put these xx overlords in there place.
Who's with me?
There's that Asari-Hanar stuff too.

Spoiler
I'm just more surprised it wasn't an elf, given the game's emphasis on elven lore.
It's not an emphasis. It's a cool reveal at the end..but the the emphasis is Ferelden and Orlesian chaos, mage/templar and Chantry issues, and a mad Tevinter magister.

Some people just see the world through elf colored glasses.

I'd love a game though that went more into their lore. Like uncovering Arlathan or something.

Can't say I agree. The whole subject bores me to tears.

There's just so much from that history that shapes this one.. Tevinter and dwarves are tied with it's downfall too.. So you'd get a little of everything.
